Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths is a comedy/mystery adventure set during Halloween. You play as private investigator Tony Tough, on a case to discover who is stealing candy from children, and who has kidnapped his dog Pantagruel. There are 2 difficulty levels, with slightly different puzzle solutions. The series continues with the sequel, Tony Tough 2: A Rake's Progress.

Easy Difficulty

Detective Agency

Talk to Pantagruel, then pick up the bag of candy. Leave your office and take the waste paper from the floor, then continue left into the cloak room. Close the door and take the smock from the back of the door, then pick it up from the floor. Use your waste paper on the brochure on the wall. Try to open the closet.

Take the wig from the corpse and leave through the sewer tunnel. Head upstairs. Pull the trophy's tail. Go back downstairs and right into your office. Pick up the flowers from the floor, then head upstairs again. Over on the left, take Pantagruel's scarf and the letter. Read the letter, then open the door and head outside. In your inventory, use the flowers on the smock, then use the scarf on the smock, and finally the wig on the costume. After getting changed, give the bag of candy to the old lady and enter halloween Park.

Halloween Park

You can now use your notebook to get around the park quickly after visiting each location once.

Go right 3 times to reach Shmiley the Clown's tent and pick up the hammer. Return to the Bearded Lady's tent, and go to the back path towards Lorenz's place, then left and along the path to the back right. Talk to Rufus - challenge him to a contest and use your own hammer so you win a dollar. Go back to Lorenz's and use the dollar in the slot machine. Go inside and talk to Lorenz about your dog and say you think he is in the park. You will receive a formula. Head outside.

Formula (Milk)

Walk left and take the stick from the signpost. Go back to Shmiley the Clown's tent and continue right to find the main square. Go down to the right from here to find a large fountain. Use your stick on the cauldron, then pick it up. Return to the Shmiley's tent and enter the back of the Hot Dogs van. Open the freezer and you will take a frozen earthworm, then go back outside.

Head to Lorenz's again and go left. Insert the formula in the crack under the door of the small cabin, then use the frozen earthworm in the keyhole to get the key. Use the key in the keyhole, then open the door and go inside. Pull the lever (don't panic it is supposed to do that). Pick up the bottle and use it on the marble bust, then use your broken bottle on the knot. Pick up the bone and use it on the broken lever, then use this new lever. Go through the door and pick up the white paint. Look at the paint in your inventory, then use it on the cauldron.

Formula (Coffee)

Open the door to the right and go outside. Return to the main square and enter the rocket. Stand next to the skateboard and when Rufus lifts up his magazine steal the skateboard. Leave here and go to the small square (up twice from the Hot Dogs van, then walk up the hill to the WC. Talk to Wally, then open the gate. Walk through the gap in the fence on the right and put the skateboard on the doormat. Go back out through the gap, then open the gate. Go back down to the Hot Dogs van, then head left and down to the sewer. Pick up the nasty liquid sewage and put it the cauldron.

Formula (Fruit Juice)

Go back to the entrance and enter the Bearded Lady's tent. Pick up the carrot, tomato and onion. Leave and go up past Lorenz's, then up to the left to find the wharf. Use your onion on the swordfish to slice it. Go up the stairs and through the door to the inn. Talk to the sad pirate, ask him why he is so low, and give him your sliced onion - when you are asked, get some rum. Return outside to the wharf then go left and enter the small cabin. Now go upstairs and into room 206. Pick up the doll, then in your inventory use the smock on the doll. Next go to the main square and head up to the right to find the Tunnel of Love. Talk to Isabella, then show her the doll and get on the ride. Use your lollipop on your rum, then put the rum in the cauldron.

Formula (Gall Bladder)

Go to the Hot Dogs van and go up once to Mortimer's Bazaar, then head inside. Talk to Mortimer about the gall bladder and agree to do something in return. Leave and go left twice and up to the beast. Take the chewing gum from the left of the cage. Next go to the main square and take the crust of dry bread from near the trash can at the bottom right.

Go to the wharf and talk to the captain about how he lost his leg. Climb the stairs and try to open the door with C written on it, but Polly will screech. Combine the chewing gum and bread in your inventory, and give it to Polly. Now open the door and enter the captain's quarters. Take the journal and examine it in your inventory. Take the piece of wallpaper from the left wall and examine this twice to get a new location in your notebook. Use your notebook to go to the dump.

Take the cards from inside the fridge. Go back to the wharf and show the cards to the captain to get the gemstone. Return to Mortimer and give him the gemstone. Pick up the Kamaro gall bladder and put it in the cauldron.

Formula (Finishing Touches)

Go to the main square and enter Carminuccio's on the right. Pick up the hot pepper and put it in the cauldron. Put your tomato in the cauldron. Go back to the entrance and use your cauldron on Organs' Reassembler. Go to Lorenz's and give him the cocktail.

Getting to the Castle

Use your carrot on the top hat to get a rabbit. Go to Mortimer's and take the chicken from the rope, then go inside and take the noose from the wall. Go back outside and go left, then enter the back of the van again. Use your chicken in the oven. Return to the small cabin and go inside and upstairs. Enter room 206 and open the drawer, then take the sleeping-draught and use it on the chicken. Go to the wharf examine the hole in the barrel, then take a fishstick from inside. Head upstairs and into the inn. Give the chicken to Biff, then take his keys.

Go to the Beast and talk to him, then use your keys on his cage to free him. Put a fishstick in the bowl inside the cage, then quickly shut the door and you will get a cat. Return to the small cabin and go inside and upstairs. This time knock on the door to room 207 and return the lady's cat in exchange for 3 nickels. Go to the small square and use your nickels in the Phot-O-Matic. Pick up the photograph. Go back to the wharf and use your photograph on the signboard. Talk to the anchorman twice to get a bag, then examine this in your inventory to get a plaque.

Now head down to the sewerage pipe where you found the "coffee" earlier. Pick up the sharp stone from the sand, then go back to Carminouccio's pizzeria in the main square. Put your plaque in the oven, then take it again and use it on the plaster cast. Use the plaster cast in your inventory to get a whistle. Now go outside and go up to the left twice, then up once more. Put your rabbit in the hole in the tree. Use your noose on the tuft of grass. Head up to the left and use the end of the rope, then return to the right and use your whistle. Quickly head up to the left when you can and continue over to the blue booth on the left. Open the door and pull the lever to get rid of the guard. Now you can head right twice to enter the castle.

Inside the Castle Grounds

Head up, then through the big double doors into the castle. On meeting the housekeeper, introduce yourself as a luminary and ask for the park boss. Next ask her about clinical experimentation and get her to turn around; while she is looking away, quickly take her washing-up liquid. Open the wardrobe doors over on the right and take the bellows from inside. Walk up and pick up the candle from the left side of the cake. Walk up again and grab the loudspeaker and pastry tube. Examine the loudspeaker in your inventory to see it is missing a battery.

Go back out of the kitchen and head left. Talk to Gwendel, then when he puts his head back in the tub use the washing-up liquid on it. Now leave the castle by going right 3 times. Continue right once more past Gwendel. Use your hammer on the blackthorn to the right and you will get a plum. Pick up the jerry-can.

Walk up to find a hut and a haystack. Open the hut's door and go inside, then pick up the pipe from the ground before leaving again. Continue right and talk to the statue. Ask what time they get off their shift. Now go right again, enter the castle and head to where you met Gwendel. Push the tub, open the trapdoor and go down. Read the sheet of paper on the left wall. Open the small door in the back of the dragon. Use your pipe in the hole, then your jerry-can on the pipe. Throw the jerry-can into the well, then light your candle on the flames.

Leave the castle again and go left twice to return to the haystack. Use your candle on it, then pick up the needle. Open the door and head inside. Use the weights to make yourself stronger, then go back outside, right twice and into the castle again. Go up and use your needle on the cake, then ask the girl for some batteries. Use the battery in your loudspeaker. Go left and open the closet doors, then give your loudspeaker to the zombie. Go left and up twice to reach the roof. Push the gargoyle on the right, then go back down twice and left. Open the closet again. Go right and up and pick up the boar's foot. Return up and left twice. Use the foot on the box and pick up the boulder.

Head outside again and go left, then pick up the knife from the pedestal. Head up and into the hut. Use your knife on the sheep. Use your pastry tube on the phlegm to pick it up.

Go back outside and head left twice. Try to take the dog that Gwendel is holding. Look up at the clock to see the gargoyle is still hanging there. Enter the castle again and go up and left twice. Use your knife to cut the rope hanging outside the window. Go back out to where Gwendel was and take the dog. Head down and use your boulder on the catapult, then use your knife on the catapult.

Head up to the castle and inside to the kitchen. Open the cabinet on the right, put the dog inside and close the cabinet again. Now head over and put the plum in the water. After the pigeons eat the plum, walk over and scare them away again. Quickly use the leash hanging out of the cabinet. Use your pastry tube on the hole in the floor, then use your bellows on it. Pick up the mold. Head out of the castle and down to the machine, and use your mold on the machine. Go through the doorway.

Climb up and enter the next doorway. Use your wool on Pantagruel, then push him and pull the lever. Go through the right doorway.

Hard Difficulty

Talk to Pantagruel, then pick up the bag of candy. Leave your office and take the waste paper from the floor, then continue left into the cloak room. Enter the Bearded Lady's tent. Open the backstage door and talk to the bearded lady, then give her your flowers and you will receive some false teeth. Leave the tent and go to the back path towards Lorenz's place. Talk to the boy here, then take the hole in the tent. Return to the right, then continue right 3 times to reach a Hot Dogs stand. Look at the trash can. Use your hole in the tent on the trash can, then use your false teeth on it, and finally push it.

Walk over to the right and pick up the hammer. Return to the Bearded Lady's tent, and go to the back path towards Lorenz's place, then left and along the path to the back right. Talk to Rufus - challenge him to a contest and use your own hammer so you win a dollar. Go back to Lorenz's and use the dollar in the slot machine. Go inside and talk to Lorenz about your dog and say you think he is in the park. You will receive a formula. Head outside.

Use the scoreboard here to play the game - select 1-2-1-2-1 to win a tapir. Walk up and take some bait from the fisherman's can. Return to Shmiley's tent and go up twice to find a small fountain. Use your tapir in this fountain. Now return to the main square. Go down to the right from here to find a large fountain. Use your stick on the cauldron, then pick it up. Return to the Shmiley's tent and enter the back of the Hot Dogs van. Open the freezer and put your earthworm inside, and you will end up with a frozen earthworm.

Head to Lorenz's again and go left. Insert the formula in the crack under the door of the small cabin, then use the frozen earthworm in the keyhole to get the key. Use the key in the keyhole, then open the door and go inside. Pull the lever (don't panic it is supposed to do that). Head up and into the hut. Use your knife on the sheep, then your watering can on the sheep. Use your pastry tube on the phlegm to pick it up.

Go back outside and head left twice. Try to take the dog that Gwendel is holding. Look up at the clock to see the gargoyle is still hanging there. Enter the castle again and go up and left twice. Use your knife to cut the rope hanging outside the window. Go back out to where Gwendel was and take the dog. Head down and use your boulder on the catapult, then use your knife on the catapult.

Head up to the castle and inside to the kitchen. Pick up the key. Open the cabinet on the right, put the dog inside and close the cabinet again. Now head over and put the plum in the water. After the pigeons eat the plum, walk over and scare them away again. Quickly use the leash hanging out of the cabinet. Use your pastry tube on the hole in the floor, then use your bellows on it. Pick up the mold. Head out of the castle and down to the machine, and use your mold on the machine. Go through the doorway.

Climb up and enter the next doorway. Use your wool on Pantagruel, then push him and pull the lever. Use your key in the lock on the right and go through the right doorway.
