Day 1

Tutorial

Type any keys to enter your username and password, then click the Login button Welcome to the FDI. Read the "Welcome" document on the right, then answer the phone calls from Mike Trench and Xavier Skinner. Go the Applications menu and select HumanDB. Enter the name "Xavier Skinner" and you will see his record, showing his age. Click on the Find Skinner's age objective, then highlight 48.

Case 1: Bar

Answer the call from Xavier Skinner, then accept the call from Alexandra Pendell. After she tells you about the case, open the Bar folder and look at the Name_List document. Now open the CAM_02 file and you will see some video footage. After watching it through once, pause the footage with the car visible through the doorway and click on the car. Now click on the license plate in the photo and you will automatically search CarDB. Click on the Find killer's name objective and highlight Ray Wells.

From the Applications menu, select HumanDB. Enter the name "Ray Wells" and you will see his record. Click on the Find killer's address objective, then highlight 130 Laurel Street Culpepper, VA 20136.

Case 2: Desert

Read the "Most Wanted" document on the right. Answer the call from Xavier Skinner, then accept the call from Barry Walker. After he tells you about the case, open the Desert folder and look at the Camera file. Click on the second tab to view the saved photographs, and click on the information button to show the timestamps of the images. Note that the date of the 3rd photograph with the UFO has a different date to the others. Click on the Find inconsistency objective and highlight 10:13 a.m. 1992-02-21 on the camera.

From the Desert folder, open the Phone_Rec document and scroll down to the map. Based on the time of the photograph, you are interested in the part of the map indicated by the time 10:15. Click on the Find photo location object and highlight 10:15 a.m. on the map.

Have a conversation with HAL the hacker. Login to your computer again. Answer the call from Xavier Skinner and choose either option (truth or lie). Power Off your terminal First Day.

Day 2

Case 3: Parking

Type any keys to enter your username and password, then click the Login button. Answer the phone calls from Mike Trench and Xavier Skinner. Now accept the call from Alexandra Pendell. Open the Parking folder, then the CAM_004 file. If you watch the first and second halves of the footage closely, you will see a different light reflection on the windshield of the car behind the traffic cones on the left. Click on the Find something different objective and highlight the light in the car windshield.

Open the Bullet image and click on the bullet to analyze it. Click on the Find out more about bullet objective and highlight .45 ACP in the bullet description.

Chat to HAL and accept the offer of help. Reopen the CAM_004 file and watch it. Pause the video and click on the car (not the car window). Analyze the car. Click on the Find more info on killer objective and highlight A 1991 red Dodge Charger Ghost Car. Click on the car window, then analyze the killer's face but there is no match. After Xavier Skinner talks to you, click on the Find more info on killer objective and highlight No Match.

Case 4: Fire

Chat to HAL. From the Applications menu, open the Terminal. Type "help" RTFM, then type "call 187.222.19.98 --nosecure" as instructed by HAL. Talk to Katherine Andrews. Go the Applications menu and select HumanDB. Enter the names "Sacha Cole" and "Mia Cole" but you won't have access. Talk to Katherine Andrews and HAL again, then select the second option.

Open the Fire folder and click on the Ash Sample. Open the ChemScan LCA User Manual from the panel on the right, then enter the following values in the ChemScan Analyzer:

• Ion Size: 6.0
• Delta V: 420
• Threshold: 210
• Sample Matrix Size: 5

Click the Start button, then the Results button and move your mouse of the results to see the frequency values for the 4 spikes, identifying them in order from tallest to shortest. From the Applications menu, select CSLCA Data Report and enter these values:

• CCVT: 901
• pH: 6.5
• Frequency 1: 9.2
• Frequency 2: 2.4
• Frequency 3: 1.5
• Frequency 4: 10.6

Click the Calculate button. Now click on the Prove fire not an accident objective and highlight Gasoline. Keep talking to Katherine Andrews and HAL. Answer the call from Mike Trench and choose either option (truth or lie).

Case 5: Graveyard

Answer the phone call from Barry Walker. Open the Graveyard folder, then the Body 1 folder and analyze the man's face in the Photo Front image to get his name: Henry Jenkins. Look at the Photo Back image and click on the text to analyze it and get the woman's name: Gabby. Go back to the Bar folder and examine the Name_List document to see there are 2 names for Gabby here. Go the Applications menu and select HumanDB. Enter the names "Gabby Bruce" and "Gabby Mills". Since you are looking for a child, Gabby Bruce is the correct match. For confirmation, listen to the Autopsy Report to see there is an abnormality of metacarpal III, matching the note in HumanDB.

Click on the Identify the body object and highlight Gabby Bruce in HumanDB. Now click on the Show evidence objective and highlight Metacarpal bone (M III) abnormal growth in HumanDB.

Examine the Name_List document again and search for "Quinton". Click on the Find Quinton Spence on list objective and highlight Quinton Spence in the list. Search HumanDB for then name "Quinton Spence". Click on the What does crossed out mean? objective and highlight Missing in HumanDB.

Open the Graveyard folder again, then the Quinton SPENCE folder. In Floppy Disk 1, open the FMP-1138 and Res.2 files. Find the sections with key and lock symbols and overlap the 2 windows to see the message "The unlock the files use: 105Endian". Open the Floppy Disk 2 folder with the password 105Endian. Open the My confession document and read it. Now click on the Find next step objective and highlight BioM Facility in the document. Power Off your terminal Second Day.

Day 3

Case 6: Facility

Type any keys to enter your username and password, then click the Login button. Answer the phone calls from Mike Trench and Barry Walker. Open the Facility folder, then watch the Entrance video. Pause it on around frame 30 and analyze the keypad to get a Code image showing the code 014485. Next analyze the object the man is carrying in the video to get a Jerrycan image. Click on the Prove it was arson objective and highlight the jerrycan.

Click on the suspect in the video to get a Suspect image. Analyze the suspect's face but there is no match. Next click on the Find the code objective and enter the code 014485. Open the Parking folder and then the Killer image. Click on the Find more info on arsonist objective and highlight the face in the Killer image.

Examine the Connie image that Barry Walker sends to you. Keep talking to him and then to HAL. Log out of your terminal.

Evidence Room Computer

Press A, then type any keys to enter your username and password and press Enter to authenticate. Since you don't have access, press H and HAL will update your credentials after a brief conversation.. Exit the help window again. Go down to Case ID X4655 belonging to KAndrews first. Select the evidence item with ID 36474, then go down to the History section and select version 001 Reverted Fire Report.

Next go to Case ID G1669 belonging to BWalker. Select the evidence item with ID 36516, then toggle the "Hidden" value to False. Press H and HAL will ask you to unredact the name from the list in the earlier case. Go to Case ID G1921 belonging to APendell. Select the evidence item with ID 36324, then go down to the History section and select version 001. Press H to talk to HAL one more time, then press L and you will leave the evidence room.

HAL's Requests

Open the Facility folder and then the HDD folder within. HAL says this will take some time to recover. Next open the Bar folder and examine the Name_List document to see the redacted name is "Sacha Cole". Click on the Give censored entry objective and highlight Sacha Cole.

Within the HDD folder, examine the Please stop message - this mentions that Henry Jenkins uses his Badge ID as his password. Go to the Graveyard folder, then the Body 1 folder, and examine the Photo Front image. Analyze the name badge to see a Badge image. Back in the HDD folder, open Connie_MOORE with the password 4036636200510. Examine the Overview and Notes documents, finding an address at the bottom of the Notes document. Click on the Find address for trap objective and highlight 442 Lakehurst Ave. Spring Valley, NY 10977.

After talking to HAL, you will call Xavier Skinner and then Alexandra Pendell.

Defusing the Bomb

Answer the phone call from Alexandra Pendell. Call Xavier Skinner, then open the FDI Bomb Defusal Guide that he sends you. Talking to Pendell again, select these options:

• What does the bomb look like?
• About the bomb...
• Tell me about the explosives.
• What kind of explosive is it?
• I want you to enter a code on the numpad: 0000
• I want you to cut a wire from the keypad: Cut the yellow wire!
• I want you to power off the screen
• I want you to cut a wire from the display: Cut the yellow wire!
• I want you to cut a wire from the display: Cut the red wire!
• I want you to power on the screen
• I want you to power off the screen
• I want you to cut a wire from the display: Cut the green wire!
• I want you to cut a wire from the keypad: Cut the green wire!
• I want you to cut a wire from the battery: Cut the black wire! Saved Agent PENDELL

Finish your conversations with Xavier Skinner and Alexandra Pendell. Power Off your terminal Third Day.

Day 4

Case 7: Surveillance

Type any keys to enter your username and password, then click the Login button. Answer the phone call from Alexandra Pendell. Open the Lab folder and examine both files inside, then have another conversation with HAL. You will also end up in a call with Katherine Andrews again.

Open the Surveillance folder and examine the VIDEO_FEED file. Analyze the cat on the floor and the damaged wall (the text suggests it could be damaged by a nearby tramway). Remembering that you hear sounds of a cat and a tram when you power off your computer each day, the apartment likely belongs to you. From the Applications menu, select HumanDB. Enter the name "van Tanner" and you will your own record. Click on the ID person being watched objective and highlight Evan Tanner.

After talking to HAL some more, open the Trash on your desktop, then open the TO_DELETE file with the password "Alice". Read the ALICE document Uncovered HAL's Identity. Keep talking to HAL some more

FDI Headquarters

Answer a call from Barry Walker, and you will end up talking to The Ghost, trading information with him. After the conversation, you will be communicating with HAL again, then you will have access to a live video feed "Level 11". Press the EN button, then answer the call from Katherine Andrews. You may have already received this achievement during the game, but if not just click repeatedly on the screen (for example the camera buttons) and you will eventually get an achievement for clicking many times Clicked 1, 2, 3, 4 times.

When the code doesn't work, talk to HAL about a change of plans, then talk to Katherine again. Open the Blueprint you receive, then wait until Katherine says she has reached the entrance on the eighth floor. Give her these instructions:

• Take the door to your left.
• Take the hallway to the left.
• Take the second door SKINNER's Office.

Katherine will return to the entrance. Give her these instructions:

• Take the door to your left.
• Take the hallway to the right.
• Take the hallway on the left.
• Left.

Use the "Level 11" video feed again and press the ST button to see Katherine in the stairway. Talk to HAL, then tell Katherine to use her badge and press the HW button. After she hides, tell her when it is clear to keep moving, then press the LK button. Talk to HAL about a code for the locker room. From the Applications menu, open the Terminal. Type "ssh FDI.L11.LCK --logs". Now play a guessing game to gradually work out the correct code, which is 73512. Press the SV button, then agree to make the person go away. Talk to HAL, then analyze the person you can see in the video feed. Click on the Find person's identity objective and highlight Rebecca Davis.

Talk to Rebecca Davis and she will eventually leave. Keep talking and press the LK button to watch Katherine, then follow her by pressing the SV button. When the warning appears on your screen, click "I Understand". Keep talking to Katherine and then HAL. After you get a password from HAL, open the HDD, then unlock the Sacha_COLE folder with the password B21P1SC. Listen to the 1992-03-04 audio file to discover that you are Sacha Cole.

HAL's Workstation

Talk to Xavier Skinner, then send the command in the Terminal window. Talk to Horizon News next, followed by Xavier Skinner again. Send another command in the Terminal window, then take part in the final conversations with The Ghost and Horizon News. Send one last command to the Terminal window. Watch the cutscene Completed the Game.

Watch the credits Watched Credits, then one final cutscene.
