Eastern Mind

Prologue

Click on the animation to start the story. Click on the right hand to view some information panels, then pick up the red amulet and the green Furoshiki. Continue the story, then click on the island of Tong-Nou to travel there. Click on the water, then the red sun, and finally the green face of Tong-Nou.

Rin

Click on the right cheek (left of screen), then look more closely and enter the cell. Open the chest and look inside it, then pick up the book. Head along the glowing corridor on the right to reach the flames at the end. Click on the middle flame, then pick up the eye glasses. Now click on the left flame several times to eventually die. You will get a mirror and the Rin Nameplate.

You will now be shown a collection of face parts (2 eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths). You can now assume other identities by clicking on combinations of these, and can do this in any order. The following order is based on the list of characters from the game manual.

Byou

Right Eye, Left Nose, Right Mouth

Take the wrench, and you will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Land of Dreaming.

Go left, forward 3 times, right, forward twice, right, forward and left to find the Palace of Dreaming. Walk forward and answer the question with "Golden Flower". Now go forward and walk around the corridors to reach the very center of the area - you will find the King of Dreaming. Go forward and talk to the King to be asked to locate the Eyeball of Dreaming.

Turn right and click on the peach in the cage, then answer the question with "Ying". Now you can take the peach. Turn around and leave the King's room, then enter the room directly opposite. Use the peach to kill the monster here, then take the Water Magatama. Go back to the outer section of the Palace of Dreaming and search the rooms along the right wall from the entrance to find a tree. Click on the magatama here, then look at the projection on the left and enter it to reach the Land of Life.

Open the stone door and proceed outside. On the plains, follow the left paths and you will reach a forest. You need to find the middle path (take the left one, then turn right and left again) and you will find the Tree of Life.

Approach the tree and then turn around repeatedly until you see an ant on the ground. Pick this up, then keep turning until you see an image of the King of Life on the tree. Talk to him, then use the ant and quickly click on the King's mouth to head inside. Step forward to the tube, then turn around and take the Wood Magatama. Step forward and talk to the King, answering the question with "Tou-Gyou". You will end up down at the tree roots. Click on the bulge to the right, then take the Eyeball of Dreaming. After heading back up, go through the King's mouth to return outside. Go all the way out of this land to see the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through Tong-Nou's left cheek (right of screen) to return to the Land of Dreaming. Go to the Palace of Dreaming and visit the King of Dreaming. Use the wrench, then click on the King to finish this segment. Take the Byou Nameplate.

Tou

Left Eye, Left Nose, Left Mouth

Take the disc of wood, and you will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Land of Life.

On the plains, follow the left paths and you will reach a forest. You need to find the middle path (take the left one, then turn right and left again) and you will find the Tree of Life. Approach the tree and talk to the King of Life.

Turn around and leave the Land of Life, going through the caves until you reach the green face of Tong-Nou. Head through the right cheek again, then into the fire corridor. Click on the second flame from the left and you will go to the Land of Time.

Go around to the back of the tower and head up the stairs to the top, then enter the computer room. Approach the computer and insert your disc of wood. Now use the eye glasses to briefly see a translation of the keyboard. Enter the following names:

• ZO-U-GA-E-RA (Zoh-Gaera)
• ZO-U-GA-E-RE (Zoh-Gaere)
• ZO-U-GA-E-RI (Zoh-Gaeri)
• ZO-U-GA-E-RO (Zoh-Gaero)
• TO-U (Tou)

Take the registration card that appears on the right. Head all the way back down to the base of the tower. Find the Tou-Gyou symbol on the ground near the tower, then turn around and approach the candle. Click on it to reveal a small doorway that lets you leave this area. Continue out through the fire corridor to see the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through Tong-Nou's right ear to return to the Land of Life. Make your way to the Tree of Life again and talk to the King of Life to finish this segment. Take the Tou Nameplate.

Sha

Left Eye, Right Nose, Left Mouth

Take the bell of gold, and you will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Land of Desire.

Step forward 3 times, then turn left and drag the pillar to the side. Go through the secret passage here. At the far end, click on each of the orbs, then each of the dragons, and take the golden flower. Return to the main corridor and use the golden flower on the altar at the end. Talk to the King of Desire.

Turn around and go back through the secret passage again, collecting the golden flower as you did before. Turn around and step forward once, then turn left. Click on the left statue to reveal a gate you can go through. Click on the second flame from the left and you will go to the Land of Time.

Go around to the back of the tower and head up the stairs until the music stops and you hear a drum. Use the bell of gold here, then take the drum of fire. Leave this area through the small doorway in the candle, then go through Tong-Nou's left ear to reach the Land of Life.

Make your way to the Tree of Life and play the drum of fire. Take the koto of wood. Now approach the tree and turn around until you see the King of Dreaming. Click on his mouth to travel to the Land of Dreaming.

Go left, forward 3 times, right, forward twice, right, forward and left to find the Palace of Dreaming. Walk forward and answer the question with "Golden Flower". Now go forward and walk around the right corridor - try to open the first door but it is locked. Use the koto of wood and the door will unlock so you can head through. Click on the magatama here, then on the projection on the wall. Take the flute of water.

Leave this room and walk around the left corridor, entering the second door. Click on the objects here, then on the magatama and go through the projection to return to the Land of Desire.

Step forward 3 times, then turn right. Play the flute of water, then go through another secret passage. Approach the bench and use all 4 musical instruments. Take the little box of sound, then take the Sha Nameplate.

Kai

Right Eye, Right Nose, Right Mouth

Take the leaf sack, and you will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Land of Time.

Go around to the back of the tower and head up the stairs to the top, then enter the computer room. Approach the computer and use the eye glasses to briefly see a translation of the keyboard. Enter the following name:

• KA-GI-YO-U

You will meet the King of Time and talk to him. Head all the way back down to the base of the tower. Find the Tou-Gyou symbol on the ground near the tower, then turn around and approach the candle. Click on it to reveal a small doorway that lets you leave this area. Continue out through the fire corridor to see the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through Tong-Nou's left cheek to return to the Land of Dreaming. Go to the Palace of Dreaming and open the first door on the left. Click on the magatama, then go through the projection. Step forward and use your leaf sack to collect the water of dreaming. Leave the palace and go through the waterfall where you entered this land to see the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through Tong-Nou's right cheek again, then into the fire corridor. Click on the second flame from the left and you will go to the Land of Time. Go around to the back of the tower, then turn so you are facing away from the stairs. Go forward, right, forward, right, and forward 3 times. Use the leaf sack on the candle here. Take the Kai Nameplate.

Jin

Left Eye, Left Nose, Right Mouth

Your reincarnation will fail. Take the Jin Nameplate.

Retsu

Right Eye, Right Nose, Left Mouth

You will appear at the base of the Tree of Life. Keep turning to the far left and the far right, and you will be eaten. Take the Retsu Nameplate.

Zen

Right Eye, Left Nose, Left Mouth

You will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Land of Dreaming. Keep turning to the far left and the far right, and click on the object that you eventually see at the top of the screen. Take the Zen Nameplate.

Gyou

Left Eye, Right Nose, Right Mouth

You will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Land of Time. Click on the plains and then on the candle several times. Take the Gyou Nameplate.

Rin Again

You will see the Tree of Life. Click on this to go to the Central Mountain. Walk forward to the base of the mountain and use the 9 nameplates to break the seal. Go up the stairs to the top of the mountain to reach the Octagonal Shrine. Click on the window in the left of the roof to head inside. Click on the ball of energy that is trapping the Earth Magatama. Leave through the high window again. Go back down the stairs and leave this area to return to the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through Tong-Nou's left ear until you reach 6 glowing red orbs. Click on the one just left of the top to reach the Land of Desire. Go forward to the altar and use the golden flower, then talk to the King of Desire. Choose any of the balls, then walk into the King's hand to reach the Helix Palace. Go all the way to the roof and take the Metal Magatama. Turn around and head all the way back out of this area.

Head through Tong-Nou's right cheek again, then into the fire corridor. Click on the second flame from the left and you will go to the Land of Time. Go around to the back of the tower and head up the stairs to the top, then enter the computer room. Approach the computer and use the eye glasses to briefly see a translation of the keyboard. Enter the following name:

• KA-GI-YO-U

You will meet the King of Time and talk to him. Go back down to the base of the tower. Facing away from the stairs, go forward, left, forward, left, forward, left, forward and left. Click on the red candle, then take the Fire Magatama. Find the Tou-Gyou symbol on the ground near the tower, then turn around and approach the candle. Click on it to reveal a small doorway that lets you leave this area. Continue out through the fire corridor to see the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through the symbol on the back of Tong-Nou's head to reach the Central Mountain. Climb half way up the stairs and click on the Tou-Gyou symbol here, then take the Katana Gem with Earth Force. Go back down the stairs and leave this area to return to the green face of Tong-Nou.

Head through Tong-Nou's left ear until you reach 6 glowing red orbs. Click on the one just left of the top to reach the Land of Desire. Approach the altar and click on the Tou-Gyou symbol here to receive Metal Force. Turn around and leave this area.

Go through Tong-Nou's left cheek to reach the Land of Dreaming. Go to the Palace of Dreaming, answering the question with "Golden Flower". Head inside and click on the Tou-Gyou symbol straight ahead to receive Water Force. Go back through the waterfall to leave this area.

Next go through Tong-Nou's right ear to reach the Land of Life. On the plains, go left and the first fork and right at the second fork, then click on the Tou-Gyou symbol on the ground to receive Wood Force. Turn around and go back through the cave to leave.

Head through Tong-Nou's right cheek, along the fire corridor and through the second flame from the left to reach the Land of Time. Step forward once and click on the Tou-Gyou symbol on the ground to receive Fire Force. Turn around and go back through the candle and the fire corridor again.

Head through the symbol on the back of Tong-Nou's head to reach the Central Mountain one last time. Climb half way up the stairs and click on the Tou-Gyou symbol here, then take the Katana of Five Forces. Continue to the top of the stairs and enter the Octagonal Shrine through the high window again. Use the katana to hold it, then click on it and take the Earth Magatama.

Click on the Slough, then use each of your 5 Magatamas.
