Clandestiny is a first-person puzzle game set in a castle in Scotland. You play as Andrew MacPhiles, an American who has inherited the castle and travels to Scotland to claim it. Upon arriving you discover that the castle is haunted by previous generations of your family. This walkthrough assumes you have selected the Brave difficulty setting.

Chapter 1

From your starting position just inside the front door, step forward, left, forward, right and forward into the Great Hall. Turn right twice and look at the puzzle on the small table.

Sugar Cube Puzzle

The goal of this puzzle is to move the sugar cubes around, jumping over each other, to leave only 1 left at the end. The following is the starting position:

From the starting position, make these moves:

  • Move C to H
  • Move D to C
  • Move I to D
  • Move J to F
  • Move B to E
  • Move A to G
  • Move C to H
  • Move F to J

Leave this room, then click at the bottom-right or bottom-left corner to hitchhike back to the main entrance. Turn left, then go forward, left and forward. Enter the door code BEAST, then go through the door to the Drawing Room. Turn right and look at the puzzle in the bookshelf.

Bottom to Top Puzzle

In this puzzle you must click on books to move them from the bottom shelf up to the top shelf. From left to right, remove the books that spell out "Five Letters" and you will be left with the word "Coward" on the bottom.

Leave this room, then hitchhike back to the main entrance. Turn right twice, then go forward, left, forward twice, right, forward, left and forward. Enter the door code WHO, then go through the door to the Dining Room. Look at the puzzle on the dining table.

Setting for 6 Puzzle

The goal of this puzzle is to move the bowls of soup (which move like chess knights) so the soup color matches the place setting color. The following is the starting position:

From the starting position, make these moves:

  • Move D to I, then to B
  • Move E to I, then to D
  • Move J to C, then to E
  • Move A to H, then to C, then to J
  • Move F to H, then to A
  • Move B to I
  • Move G to B, then to F
  • Move I to B, then to G

Continue forward past the dining table and through the next door. Continue down the stairs and forward. Enter the door code FREE, then go through the door to the Kitchen. Continue forward, then look at the puzzle in the large pot of soup.

Canals of Campbell's Puzzle

In this puzzle, you need to click on the letters in order to spell out a phrase. The first solution is "Cullen skink is best served hot". The second solution is "But haggis served is better not".

Turn around and approach the door, then turn left and click on the cabinet - you will go through a secret passage to return to the Drawing Room. Turn left and go forward twice to leave the room, then continue left and forward twice. Enter the door code SCOTLAND (this time you must click on each letter in the riddle first, then replace it with the correct letter), then go through the door to the Library. Go forward and look through the Book of Lore, then continue right, forward, right and forward. Look at the puzzle on the table to the left.

Trade Winds Puzzle

This is a maze puzzle - you must move in the direction indicated by the water where the ship is located, and must alternate between light blue and dark blue squares to reach the island at the bottom right. Click on the following numbered squares in ascending order:

Chapter 2

Head up the spiral staircase, then go forward, right, forward 3 times, left, forward, right and forward. Enter the door code THE, then go through the door to the Tower Bedroom. Walk forward and turn right, then look at the puzzle on the wall.

Graffiti Secrets Puzzle

Pull out the block in the bottom right of the puzzle, then you will have the following layout:

From the starting position, click on the blocks in these locations: 6, 5, 2, 1, 4, 5, 2, 3, 6, 9, 8, 7, 4, 5, 6, 9. After solving the puzzle, turn left and go forward, then look through the telescope. Back out, then turn left twice and continue forward, left, forward, left and forward through the door to the Bathroom. Turn left twice and go back through the door, then head right, forward, right, forward and right. Look at the new puzzle on the wall.

Cryptic Identity Puzzle

Here you must click on a letter at the top to switch it with a letter in the riddle beneath. The finished riddle is as follows:

  • My first is in kingdom, but not in state,
  • My second is in eminent but not in great,
  • My third is in gristle, but not in bone,
  • My fourth is in granite, but not in stone,
  • My fifth is in house, and also in home,
  • To which I return wherever I roam;
  • To complete the whole, my last is in spite and I'm always the first one into a fight.

Once you have completed this, you need to click on the correct letters in each of the appropriate words to enter the code KNIGHT. From here, go right, forward, left, forward, left and forward to return to the Bathroom. Click on the bath and you will go through another secret passage to reach the Ballroom.

Look at the small convex mirror on the wall ahead and click on the candle flame in the mirror - this opens another secret passage that leads back to the Bathroom. Hitchhike back to the entrance to the Ballroom, then go through the door and hitchhike back to the main entrance. Turn right twice, head upstairs, then go forward twice. Enter the door code HE, then go through the door to the Tartan Room. In here, talk to the sheep, then turn left twice and leave the room again.

Turn left, then continue forward, right, forward, left and go along the walkway on the left. Now go forward twice, right and forward again. Enter the door code STONE, then go through the door to the Secret Room. Turn right and look at the puzzle on the desk.

13 Easy Pieces Puzzle

For this puzzle, you must click on the numbered discs to move them over faint matching numbers. From the starting position, click on these discs:

  • 2, 11, 12, 6, 5, 4, 3, 10
  • 2, 11, 1, 13, 7, 8, 9, 10
  • 2, 11, 1, 12, 6, 5, 4, 3
  • 2, 11, 1, 12, 13, 7, 8, 9, 10
  • 11, 1, 12, 13, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 12, 13

Turn left, then go forward and move the bookshelf to find a secret passage. The other end is barred, so go back to the Secret Room for now. Continue right, forward twice, left, forward, right, forward and down the stairs into the Library. Look at the puzzle in the right bookshelf here.

The Truth is Out There Puzzle

Rearrange the books - click on 2 of them to swap their positions. You need to create a cohesive picture of a submarine, spelling out the phrase "A secret revealed" along the bottom. You will automatically go through into the Arboretum.

For now, turn right and go back through the passage into the Library. Hitchhike to its entrance, then go through the door to leave. Continue forward to the left, left, forward, right and forward. Enter the door code LET, then go through the door to the Chapel. Turn to the right and look at the puzzle on the shelf.

Cursed Coins Puzzle

The goal is to take all of the red coins in a game of Othello (or Reversi). From the starting position, place your gold coins in the positions marked 1-6:

Chapter 3

Turn right and go through the door, then hitchhike back to the main entrance. Turn right and look at the puzzle in the niche.

Coat of Arms Puzzle

On the shield there is a grid of symbols in the shape of a cross. You must click on groups of 5 different symbols, gradually clicking on every available symbol. The groups of five are shown on the diagram below in different shades:

Press the heart and you will descend through another secret passage into the Armory. Turn left and approach the suit of armor, then talk to it. Also talk to the sword. Back out and turn left, then go back up the stairs to the main entrance. From here, head left, upstairs, forward, left and forward 3 times. Enter the door code AND, then go through the door to the Game Room. Turn left, then go forward to the right, turn right again, and look at the puzzle on the fountain.

Leap Frogs Puzzle

In this puzzle, you need to swap the positions of the frogs, which can either step forward or jump forward over another frog. This is the starting position:

Click on frogs in these positions: 3, 5, 6, 4, 2, 1, 3, 5, 7, 6, 4, 2, 3, 5, 4. Turn right and go forward twice into the Card Room.

Go through the dumbwaiter straight ahead, then turn right and go forward. Substitute the Roman numerals for letters to spell YSSTNIE'D, then rearrange them to spell DESTINY'S. Go through the door to the Wine Cellar. Continue forward, right, forward and left, then look at the puzzle in the wine rack.

Wine Racked Puzzle

In this game, you need to build a path from top-left to bottom-right, while preventing your opponent from building a path from top-right to bottom-left. You should start in the middle and build a path using every second space first, then fill in the gaps. If you try to block your opponent, make sure you place a bottle not right next to theirs, but one space away. You will eventually win the game and a new secret passage will open - you will automatically go through to the Secret Garden.

Turn left and go forward three times, then turn left and examine the puzzle.

Statue Paths Puzzle

This puzzle is a modified game of chess where you just need to move the white knight until it captures the black rook at the far corner. This is the starting position:

Click to move the knight to each of the numbered squares in order from 1 to 12. Go forward 3 times. Enter the door code WITHIN, then go through the door to the Clock Tower. Go forward and you will head upstairs. Look at the puzzle in the gears.

Gears Puzzle

Your goal here is to move all the red gears to the left, in order from largest to the smallest, all the green gears to the middle, in order from smallest to largest, and leave just the single blue gear on the right. From the starting position make these moves:

  1. Move left to right
  2. Move middle to left (twice)
  3. Move middle to right
  4. Move left to right
  5. Move middle to right
  6. Move left to middle (twice)
  7. Move right to left (twice)
  8. Move middle to left
  9. Move right to middle (twice)
  10. Move right to left
  11. Move middle to right (twice)
  12. Move left to right
  13. Move middle to right
  14. Move middle to left
  15. Move right to middle (5 times)

Chapter 4

Step forward. Enter the door code WIN, then go through the door to the Dungeon. Look at the puzzle on the torture rack straight ahead.

Torture Rack Puzzle

In each of the two parts of this puzzle, you need to find a word that you can spell out by clicking on letters that follow the chains. The first word is "Dismemberments" and the second is "Strangulations". Turn left and go forward to the right, then turn right and go forward twice. Enter the door code SLAYS, then go through the door to the Oubliette. Look at the combination lock puzzle on the ground here.

Combination Lock Puzzle

This puzzle contains 20 small discs, some displaying rune symbols. You need to get these to line up with matching symbols on the larger stone. There are two types of moves you can make - you can either spin the circle at the bottom, or you can click on two discs to slide all of the discs around the puzzle. Number the positions as follows:

Babble On Puzzle

You will see a series of 12 ghostly faces, and each will say a brief phrase when clicked. You need to arrange them in order to say the following:

  • Unless the Fates be faithless grown,
  • And prophets voice be vain,
  • Where'er is found this sacred Stone,
  • The Scottish race shall reign.
