Overclocked: A History of Violence is a 3rd person psychological thriller. You play as forensic psychiatrist David McNamara, who is called to Staten Island Forensic Hospital to interview a group of 5 new patients, all brought in disorientated and scared. The game is largely played through flashbacks, as you piece together the mystery.

Chapter 1: Broken Glass

Morning

Listen to both messages on your answering machine, then look closely at the table and take the pendulum and PDA. Examine the wallet in your inventory to find a credit card. Walk to the other room and pick up some loose change from the cabinet below the television. Head down to the hotel lobby and talk to the clerk to get a map. Go outside and cross the street towards the pier. Go to the end of the dock and talk to the two men there. Enter the ferry building and you will automatically board the ferry.

Use the intercom to get into the hospital. Walk up the steps and Ms McNamara will let you inside. Walk forward, then head down the right corridor to meet Dr Young. Stay in this corridor and look through the portholes to the patient rooms until Detective Moretti interrupts you. After talking to him, look through the rest of the portholes, then follow Moretti across to the opposite side of the lobby. Talk to him here, then go into the cockpit and talk to Dr Young. Examine the file, then go back to the cell area. Enter each of the 5 rooms to see the patients.

Afternoon

Go to the cell area again. Turn around and enter the cockpit to talk to Dr Young once more. Now head outside the front of the hospital and use your PDA to phone Moretti, before returning inside.

Evening

Go down the hallway on the left, then enter the door to the nursing station. Talk to Ms McNamara, then take the pencil and paper before leaving. Go across the hall and enter Cell 1. Talk to the patient again.

Cell 1 Flashback 1

Use your crowbar on both sides of the ventilation grill until it falls down the hole, then head outside. Try to push the barrels, but they are too heavy. Try to shoot the barrels but you are standing too close. Walk away towards the fence and try to climb it, but it is too high. Shoot the barrels from here, then go back and push them. Now climb on the barrels to get over the fence.

Leave the patient's room and go outside the hospital. You will receive a message, so use your PDA to read it. Go out towards the gate and talk to the security guard, then leave and go back to your hotel (via the ferry). Head up to your room, where you will automatically call Kim. Go into the other room and listen to the message on the answering machine. Use your PDA to phone Terry Ingram, then try to sleep in your bed, but you need a drink first. Go down and leave the hotel, then enter the Nighthawk Bar just down the street. Sit down on the stool and talk to the bartender, then return to your hotel room and go to sleep.

Chapter 2: Wounds

Morning

Leave the hotel and you will be confronted by Ryker. Back inside the hotel, talk to the clerk, then return outside and go to the ferry. Enter the hospital and talk to Dr Young in the cockpit. Return to Cell 1. Use your PDA to play back some audio (Cell 1, 11/10, night, part 2), then talk to the patient again.

Cell 1 Flashback 2

Head forwards and use your gun to shoot a large hole in the brick wall. Pick up a brick then crawl through the opening. Take the path on the right and walk up to the large fan. Put a brick in the fan to stop it, then crawl through. Once on the other side, shoot the brick out from the fan and it will start spinning again. Go along the tunnel and climb up the ladder at the end.

Leave this room and head down the corridor and into Cell 3. Read the message that arrives on your PDA, then leave the cell and return to the cockpit. Look at the radio on the bench, then try to pick it up. Go out the front of the hospital and use your alarm pager. Now while Dr Young leaves the cockpit, head back inside and take the radio. Return to Cell 3. Put the radio on the table in here and turn the dial on it to 108.

Cell 3 Flashback 1

Turn on your flashlight, then walk along the corridor to find a locked steel door. Look at the control panel just to the right of the door, and you will be given a clue 1-5, but this isn't for this door. Look at the paper note in your inventory to see a code, then enter this as the combination: 8, 12, 5, 20. Back out and go through the door. Use your gun on the large fan, then crawl through. Go along the tunnel and climb up the ladder at the end. Head outside and climb up the barrel and over the fence.

Use your PDA to play back some audio (Cell 3, 11/10, night, part 1), then talk to the patient again.

Cell 3 Flashback 2

Open the drawer right in front of you and take the flashlight from inside. Leave through the door on the right and head down the corridor and then into Ray's room. Take the key from the table, then leave this room again. Go back along the corridor and through the large wooden door to the main square. Head to the left and approach the jail, using the key to get in through the door. Go along the corridor to the cell door at the end. Use the key on this door, then enter. Climb down through the ventilation shaft.

Leave the cell to meet with Dr Young again.

Afternoon

Head outside and phone Moretti. Go back to your hotel and talk to the clerk to get some handcuffs. Now return to the hospital and go to Cell 5. Quickly use the cuffs on the patient, then play back some audio (Cell 3, 11/10, evening, part 1) and talk to the patient.

Cell 5 Flashback 1

Head over to the right and approach the jeep. Take the flag from the jeep, then the bottle from under the bench and the jumper lead to the left. Look at the battery on the table, then back out of this area. Look at the fire extinguisher on the ground, and use your knife on it to get a piece of tube. Back out again and now go outside and over to the main gate. Open the sliding door and take the gas can from inside, then go back out and examine the chain on the large locked gate.

Head back towards the fuel dump area and look at the old rusty tank. Remove the lid, then use your tube on the tank, and your gas can on the tube to fill it with fuel. Go back into the building and approach the table. Look at the battery again. Use the jumper leads on the battery. Pour some of your gas into the bottle, then insert the flag. Use this on the jumper leads to light it, then pick up your Molotov cocktail.

Go back out of the building and push the empty barrel over towards the locked gate. Look at the barrel, and look into the opening. Pour your remaining gas inside, then use your Molotov cocktail on the barrel.

Leave the cell and check the new message on your PDA. Enter the cockpit and talk to Dr Young again. Go outside the hospital and out through the gates to talk to Moretti - you will automatically head back into the hospital after the conversation.

Evening

Go to the nursing station and talk to the nurse. Go to Cell 3 and try to talk to the patient to get a clue. Return to the nursing station and take the flashlight. Turn to leave, then look at the fuse box and use it to turn off the lights (you need to wait until the nurse isn't paying attention for this to work). Return to Cell 3 again. Turn on your flashlight and use it. Play back some audio (Cell 5, 11/10, night, part 1) and then talk to the patient.

Cell 3 Flashback 3

Look at the diary in your inventory, then leave your room and find Jonathon's room. Leave here and follow Cliff into his room - you will be kicked out again. Listen to the door a few times until you hear that Cliff is further away. Now open the door and quickly take the note from the nearby wall.

Return to the nursing station and use the fuse box to turn the lights back on. Go to Cell 1 and play some audio (Cell 3, 11/10, afternoon, part 1), then talk to the patient.

Cell 1 Flashback 3

Go into Cell #2. Play some audio (Cell 1, 11/10, afternoon, part 1) then talk to the patient.

Cell 2 Flashback 1

Head inside and try to open the locker, then use your knife on it. Push the box with the lifeboat outside. Now tie rope to the railing and push the lifeboat again. Climb down over the railing.

Head over to Cell 5. Play some audio (Cell 3, 11/10, afternoon, part 2) then talk to him.

Cell 5 Flashback 2

Next go back to Cell 3. Play some audio (Cell 5, 11/10, afternoon, part 1), then talk to him.

Cell 3 Flashback 4

Talk to Cliff, then try to take the wine bottle. Leave this room and go out to the square, then over to the jail. Try to open the door, then go and talk to the barred window to the right. Head back into the main building and you will see Cliff entering the kitchen. Go into Cliff's room and take the empty wine bottle, then return to the kitchen yourself. Talk to Cliff, then switch the bottles when he looks away. Go back to Cliff's room and hide behind the door.

Go to Cell 5. Play some audio (Cell 3, 11/9, night, part 1), then talk to the patient.

Cell 5 Flashback 3

Kick the chair, then pick up some wood after it breaks. Examine the shaft, and use your piece of wood to get the knife, then use the knife on the 4 screws around the edge of the grill. Remove the grill and crawl through. Go through the dark passage, then out through the sliding door.

Go to Cell 2. Play some audio (Cell 3, 11/9, night, part 1), then talk to the patient.

Use the knife on the grill.

Check the new message on your PDA, then head outside and phone Moretti. Go back inside and enter Cell 2, then talk to the patient.

Cell 2 Flashback 3

Look at the searchlight, then enter the watchtower. Use the green button to turn on the light, then try any of the arrow buttons. Open the panel and take the console plate. Attach the cable to the left clamp, then go outside and put the console plate on the light. Go back inside and undo the left clamp, then turn the second clamp. Undo this one again and use the left clamp, then retrieve the console plate. Back inside again, attach the console plate to the panel, press the green button and then one of the arrow buttons.

Go outside and talk to Dr Young, then check the message from Kim. Go to the hotel and talk to the clerk to get your mail, then read it. Head up to your hotel room using the elevator, and use your PDA to call your attorney, then Kim. Go back down to the lobby and outside, then head along the street and enter the bar. Sit down on the stool and talk to the bartender, then return to your hotel room and go to sleep.

Chapter 3: Enemies

Morning

Go down to the lobby and talk to the clerk. Give him your credit card, then examine the back of it in your inventory to get a phone number. Head back up to your room and use your PDA to call the bank, then call Kim. Go downstairs and head outside and towards the pier - you will have two conversations on the way.

Afternoon

Head into the hospital and enter Cell 4. Play some audio (Cell 2, 11/9, night, part 1), then talk to the patient.

Cell 4 Flashback 2

Head to the kitchen and pick up the bucket and mop. Look at the sink and put the bucket in it, then fill the bucket with water by using the faucet. Pick up the bucket again and return to the hall. After cleaning up the blood, go out to the main square and empty the bucket into the well. Go back inside and enter Laura's room (near the blood). Look at the drawings on the table, then pick up the knife. Go back outside again and head to the watchtower.

Go to Cell 5. Play some audio (Cell 4, 11/9, evening, part 5), then talk to the patient.

Cell 1 Flashback 4

Pick up the gloves from the ground on the left, then go forwards and follow the right path to reach some barbed wire. Use the gloves on the wire and you will get a metal bar. Go back to the path and take the other branch to reach an entrance blocked by a stone slab. Use the bar on it, but you will hear a scream. Go back to the barbed wire and shoot the dear. Head towards the stone slab again and you will be stopped.

Go to Cell 3. Play some audio (Cell 1, 11/9, evening, part 4), then talk to the patient.

Cell 3 Flashback 5

Turn on the light switch. Pick up the fire extinguisher and use it on the bulkhead door. Now look at the code panel to see that 4 numbers have been worn away. Remembering the 1-5 from earlier, you only have two number combinations to try. Turn the light switch off again, then go back to the code panel and enter 1-5-3-7. Now open the door.

Go outside and use your PDA to phone Moretti, head back inside and check your new message. Head to Cell 3 and play the NYPD Audio sound clip, then talk to the patient.

Cell 3 Flashback 6

Examine the radio and plug it in, then turn on the switch and it will start smoking. Look behind the radio and pick up the rag. Try to use the rag to remove the working light bulb, but you need to turn it off first. Go and use the switch on the wall to do this. Now use the rag to remove the light bulb, and insert the bulb into the light nearer to the radio. Turn it on with the switch, then read the piece of paper on the wall near the radio - you will see the code 1-R, 2-4, 3-2, 4-3. Look behind the radio again. According to this code, insert the four plugs in the order red, yellow, green and blue (from left to right). Now turn on the radio.

Go to Cell 1 and talk to the patient.

Head to the cockpit and talk to Dr Young, then leave the hospital.

Evening

Talk to the security guard, then return to your hotel. Talk to the clerk before going up in the elevator. Look at your suitcases and read the letter there, then phone Kim and Terry before going to bed.

Chapter 4: Sunk

Morning

After you automatically call Terry again, head downstairs and to the pier. Go to the end and talk to the men, and you will end up accompanying Dr Young to the hospital. Talk to the security guard before going inside. Head into Cell 2, then use your alarm pager.

Afternoon

Check your message from Kim, then go outside and call Moretti. Go back inside and enter Cell 1, then talk to the patient.

Use the small key to unlock the door to the Armor Depot and head inside. Go through to the hall and pick up a crowbar from one side of the room, then use this to get some ammo from a box on the other side of the room. Go to the far end of the room and use your other key on the padlock. Take the pistols, then leave the Armor Depot.

Go to Cell 1. Play some audio (Cell 5, 11/8, afternoon, part 4), then talk to the patient.

Leave the cell and talk to Dr Young, then leave the hospital.

Evening

Head back to the ferry, then after you are ambushed, head to the bar to talk to Moretti. Talk to Ryker while you are here, then leave and return to the hotel. Talk to the clerk, then head up to your room and go to sleep.

Chapter 5: Lost

Morning

After your call to Terry, head outside and over towards the Ferry. After talking to Moretti, take the rope and lifebelt and combine them in your inventory. Use these on the rubber dinghy in the water, then look in it and take the gun. Now head to the hospital, and into Cell 1. Take the sedative from the ground, then head out to the cockpit. Use the sedative on the medicine cabinet to find the antidote. Head to each of the cells and use the antidote on each of the patients.

Afternoon

Enter Cell 1 and talk to the patient.

Check your message from Kim. Leave the hospital and take the ferry, then continue right past the hotel to reach Central Park.

Evening

Walk forwards until you meet Kim. Back at the hotel, pick up your suitcases and take them to the Nighthawk bar. Head to the pier and try to phone Moretti, then open the dumpster. Once you reach the hospital, head inside and you will be kicked out. Take out your pistol and walk back inside. In the cockpit, use the sedative on the doctor and the nurse. Head to Cell 1 and talk to the patient.

Cell 1 Flashback 10

Head to the rubber dinghy and use it to get to Fort Tilden

Early Morning

Pick up a stone and use it on another stone to sharpen it, then use your sharp stone on the dinghy to get a rubber strip. Walk over to the fence and use the rubber strip on the fence, then climb over. Pick up the crowbar from the ground, then crawl past the fan at the end of the ventilation shaft. Use the crowbar on the fan and you will get the gun. Head to the end of the corridor, then through the barred door. Go past the fuel dump to the main square, then into the weapons store. Take some ammunition from the box in the back room, then go back outside and head to the watchtower.

Climb up the rope and pick up the knife, then climb back down the ladder. Head through the main square towards the main gate, then go through the sliding door and down to the bunker. Go forward to find a steel door, and look at the code panel. Enter the code GOLIATH, by typing 3-555-444-333-1-7-33, then go through the door. Look at the video cassettes, and take two of them:

  • Corridor, 4th Day, 0-6 hours
  • LAN Room, 2nd Day, 18-24 hours

Go to the ventilator shaft on the other side of this room and use your knife on it, then crawl through into the LAN Room. Take the portable hard drive from the computer at the far end, and some adhesive tape from on the boxes on the floor. Head back through the ventilator shaft. Now examine the server in the glass case. Use your tape on the case to block the air, then back away from the server.
