Normality is a first person sci-fi adventure set in the city of Neutropolis. You play as Kent Knutson, a teenager who is thrown in jail for whistling a musical tune. While incarcerated, you receive a note suggesting a plan to overthrow the dictatorship that is crushing the spirit of the population.

Apartment

Pick up the flyer and the scissors from the floor. Read both the flyer and the note in your inventory. Pick up the cushion from the bed and the TV remote from beneath it. Take the t-shirt from the open drawer, then use it on yourself in your inventory to put it on. Examine the sofa, then pick up the coins and the strange gizmo.

Enter the kitchen and pick up the blue coffee cup from the bench, and the little box from the cook top. Use the kettle to turn it on, then fill the coffee cup using the kettle. Enter the bathroom and take the sharkpoon from the bath. Next enter the small pantry and get the jar of white paint and the bird toy. Use your sharkpoon on the washing machine, then collect the rat using your little box.

Go back out to the lounge and use the bird toy on the remote - this will keep the TV turned on. Open the window, then use the window to climb outside.

Talk to Dai Vandervip about everything. In your inventory, use the jar of white paint on the coffee cup, then give it to Dai. Talk to him about everything. Once the cradle descends to the ground, press M to use your map.

Plush-Rest Factory

Go through the gates and head around the right side of the factory. Examine the footprints on the ground near the middle dumpster. Continue around the back of the building and pick up the oxyacetylene torch from next to the furnace (it will roll over towards the red shipping container). Pick up the rusty cog from here. Now head back around to the front and enter through the main blue door.

Continue through the next door, then talk to the receptionist and mention your t-shirt. Continue through the next 2 doors into the Hospitality Niche. Examine the bizarre sculpture, then use it and pick up the coffee - you will end up in the Test Department. Talk to Tiddler about everything. Pick up the radio (you will only take the current receiver). Also take the current sender, which is plugged into the wall socket here.

Open the door, then go straight ahead and talk to the guard - you need a badge before you can head down the stairs. Pick up the battery from the floor to the right. Go up the stairs and pick up the manual from the floor, then read it in your inventory. Use your current receiver on the bare wire between the 2 beds. In your inventory, combine the current sender with the battery, then use this on the empty bed.

Go back down the stairs and around the corridor until you find the WC. Open this door and get inside. Stand on the toilet, then turn around and use the air vent to climb up. Go forward, then take the first left turn. Follow the duct until you find a belt to pick up. Return to where you entered the vent. This time go forward and take the first right turn. At the end, look down and use the alarmed case to get the debris. Go back out through the first air vent, then leave the WC again.

Turn left and go through the dining area into the changing room. Talk to the tester here about everything. Turn around and open the 4th locker in the middle row, taking out the books. Examine them both in your inventory. Now head back to the empty bed from early, and put the debris on the bed.

Return to the corridor and turn left to find some fake living areas. Go through these to find 3 grinders in the room behind them. Read the manual on the floor. Use your belt with the extinguisher on the floor here. Now use the extinguisher, then pick it up. Use the control box in the corner of the room to disable the blades, then use the middle grinder. You will end up in a new location

The Den

Talk to Heather about everything, and you will end up back outside the factory.

Plush-Rest Factory

Use your fire extinguisher with one of the paint drums around the back of the factory, then use your map again.

TV Station

Pick up the turd from the ground just inside the gates. Talk to the bouncer, and give him the rat in the box. Open the doors and enter the building. Go through the door around to the left and talk to the computer engineer who is sitting on the floor. Give the turd to him, and he will give you his dirty shirt. Examine this in your inventory, then examine the ID badge you remove from the shirt (you will see that his middle name is Holen).

Leave this office and go to the one that is to the right from the entrance doors. Talk to the secretary here to arrange an appointment. Turn right and talk to Boss Johnson about the video, and he will give you an ID card.

Make your way to the red Control Room door in the back of the building. Use your ID card to get inside. Put your video tape into the bottom VT machine on the left side of the desk. Use the green screen computer just to the right and enter the password HOLEN. Now enter the command RUN VT2. After the video plays, you will go back to the Den.

The Den

Heather will congratulate you and send you off for your next mission. Talk to her about everything.

Plush-Rest Factory

Use your map to travel again.

MINT Mall

Go and talk to the blind man, then give him the costume book and you will get a matchbook. Open the large doors and enter the mall. Talk to Normal 2782, then try to walk past and your extinguisher will be confiscated. Now go up the stairs on the left and follow the corridor to find a partially opened roller door. Pick up the screwdriver that you can see below the door.

Back out and enter the "Thrifty Fifty" shop just to the left. Pick up a yappy puppy and a glider, then combine the two in your inventory. Repeat this until there are no more yappy puppies remaining. Take the fruit croppers from the wall, then use them on the glider sign to get a large glider. Combine these two items in your inventory, then leave the shop and pick up the fruit croppers from the floor outside.

Go back downstairs and enter the "Cave of Comestibles" shop. Talk to Ray about everything and he will turn off the lights. Use your fruit croppers on the round speaker hanging from the ceiling, and you will take the speaker. Leave this shop and enter one called "Disco La-La". Take the Total Clap CD cover hanging on the far wall as you enter, then go through the curtain into the back room. Use your speaker with the stereo here, then use the Total Clap CD cover on the stereo.

Go out and look at the waffle statue in the entrance hall. In your inventory, use the matchbook on the Firestarter book. Now use the matchbook on the crates.

The Den

Heather will congratulate you and send you off for your next mission. Talk to her about everything.

Use your map to travel again.

Ordinary Outpost

Walk towards the reception desk and talk to Norm 0793 to learn the research elevator keypad sequence. Go to the elevator on the right from where you entered the building, and use the keypad. Enter the code 1-5-7-2, then enter the elevator and wait to reach your new destination (if it says the code is wrong, use the opposite elevator).

Approach the desk and talk to Conrad Smulch. Pick up the scalpel from the right side of the desk. Turn around and enter the sound-proof booth. Use your scalpel on the straps to free the patient. Leave the booth and pick up the patient. Turn around again and approach the metal tube. Press the green down arrow button so a capsule arrives, then press the red button so the capsule opens. Use the patient on the capsule, then press the green up arrow button to send him away.

Talk to Conrad Smulch again. Pick up a glass shard from the floor. Climb through the lab window that the patient broke earlier. Take the spanner from the bench here, then climb back out of the lab. Now climb out through the broken outer window to reach a cradle. Take the ladder, then use the pulley to leave.

Plush-Rest Factory

Go around the left of the factory and use the ladder on the red shipping container, then use the ladder to climb on top of it. Use your spanner on the engine here to get a small cog. Use the map to travel.

Ordinary Outpost

As you enter, turn right and step on a loose tile behind a pillar - this will activate the fountain. Go and talk to Norm 0793 about everything. When he leaves, look at the empty reception area to see a code on a piece of paper. Enter code 1-5-7-2 into the right elevator keypad again and get inside to travel to the Research Area.

Go through the broken lab window again, and insert both of your cogs into the side panel of the waste grinder. Now use the paint samples with the waste grinder. Pick up the dish cloth from the floor, then use it on the extinguisher on the floor. Leave the lab and enter code 1-5-7-2 into the elevator keypad to return down to the lobby.

Go over to the opposite elevator and enter code 1-3-1-2 into this keypad. Enter the elevator, then wait for it to move. Exit the elevator and walk around the desk - ask for a prisoner and the guard will leave. Go around behind the desk and press the button. Turn around and approach the red tube. Examine the screen on the left, then the man in the red tube. Examine the screen again, then examine the new man in the red tube. Answer the question with "I'm on guard".

Prison

Talk to the TV technician about everything, then talk to him again about everything. Turn around and go along the corridor, then head left into the Communal Norm room. Pick up the paper ball from the bin, then examine the ledger on the nearby bureau. Open the bureau, then pick up the paper and examine it in your inventory. Take the "Out of Order" notice from the board, and also take the paper and printout, then examine these in your inventory.

Continue through the next door into the Zoom System Control room. Look down and adjust the pedals as follows from left to right:

  • Up
  • Up
  • Up
  • Down

Now move the green lever to the far right, then press the red Engage button. While you are lying down, grab the shadow, blob and paper from under the controls. Find another blob on the "Do Not Touch" sign, and the final one behind the red light on the ceiling. Read the paper in your inventory. Go back into the Communal Norm room and open the food-mat hatch on the right wall. Put all 4 of your bugs into the steam cleaner. Enter the Zoom System Control room once more. Look down and adjust the pedals as follows from left to right:

  • Up
  • Down
  • Down
  • Up
  • Down

Now move the green lever to the far left, then press the red Engage button. Head back through the Communal Norm room and turn left. Open the elevator and get inside, then wait here and you will escape.

The Den

Talk to Heather about everything, then you will automatically leave.

Street

Enter the "TV Heaven" shop and examine the micro-TV on the counter. Talk to the TV salesman and ask about a remote. When he enters the store room, take the key from behind the desk and use it to lock the back door. Pick up the cardboard box and you will end up climbing into the attic. Pick up the mallet from behind the green crate. Examine the wooden slats in the wall, then use the mallet on them. Walk through the hole and keep going forward until you fall through to the level below.

Go up the stairs and get the hanging teddy (you will take the coil of wire), then pick up the teddy from the floor. Go back down the stairs and pick up the light bulb. Use the coil of wire on the bulb pins where you removed the light bulb. Pick up the pink little wire. Open the green control box on the middle level of this area, and use your little wire on the circuit board inside. Use your coil of wire on the same circuit board. Go down to the bottom area and use the teddy eyes on the slot, then press the button next to the slot. Wait for an explosion.

Pick up the green rubber pipe sticking out of the floor in the remains of the room you just exploded. Next head over towards the truck. Use the rubber pipe on the air vent high up on the side of the hardware store. Open the rear doors of the truck to find Dai.

The Den

Talk to Heather about everything, then use your map to travel.

MINT Mall

Pick up the matchbook from the base of the stairs, then head inside. Pick up the red firecracker and some planks of wood from the floor in the entrance. Climb up the broken wall on the left so you can take the black rubber pipe. Take some of the rope from around the base of the waffle statue.

Plush-Rest Factory

Go around to the left and use your matchbook on the oxyacetylene torch next to the red shipping container. Now use the oxyacetylene torch on the container doors. Use one of the gas cylinders inside the shipping container, and it will end up sinking into the river. Go around the other side of the shipping container and use one of the paint drums on the river. Now in your inventory combine the rope with the planks to make a raft, then use the raft with the river. Back in the shipping container, use the other gas cylinders, then go back and use the raft.

The Den

After the rocket launch, you will go to your next location.

Stadium

Go up the steps into the tunnel, then turn around and use the switches to get rid of the guards. Now proceed forward into the stadium floor. Take the goggles from the crates on the left. Return to the tunnel and go down through the hatch to reach the sewers.

Follow the main path until you find a brick you can pick up. Continue forward until you see a hatch above you - there are some batteries here that you cannot reach. Use your brick on the hole in the wall just above the floor here - you will reach up and take the batteries (energy cells). In your inventory, put these into the goggles, then use the goggles on yourself to wear them.

Turn around and go back to the crossroads, then turn right so you are standing in water. Use your guitar on the bars straight ahead. Continue forward and take the second right turn, then use your guitar on the brick part of the wall on the right. Pick up the roof brace, and a crate will fall down from above.

Turn back and go straight over the crossroads, then keep going until you find an "Access" sign on the left wall. Use your roof brace on this sign. Keep going forward and take the first left, then turn left again to go down some stairs. Continue forward into an old lab. Use the "You Have Not Been Here" poster to remove it from the wall, Use the hole in the wall and you will squeeze through into a small room. Examine the microwave machine, then pick up the axe. Squeeze back out through the hole again.

Go back up the stairs and turn right, then take the first right. Keep going forward until you reach the crate that fell down when you removed the roof brace. Use your axe on the crate, then use the crate to get a suit. Turn around and go back to the lab by going forward to the access sign, then left and left down the stairs.

Go through the hole again and use the suit on the microwave machine. Use the hole once more. Go back up the stairs and turn right, then take the first right. Get the roof brace again, then continue forward to the crossroads just before the crate. Turn right here, then take the first left. Use your guitar on the brick wall at the end of this passage. Go through and use your roof brace on the elevator doors. Now use the elevator doors.
