MechCube: Escape is a challenging sci-fi puzzle game. You are placed inside a large enigmatic structure known only as "The Cube" and must explore each room to find a new puzzle, which opens passage to more rooms. There are 24 Steam Achievements, all documented in the walkthrough below.

Introduction

As you are watching the introductory slideshow, watch for a scene with the caption that starts "The most famous of these". Click on the first-aid kit being held by the soldier on the left Medic. Watch the rest of the introduction, then enter The Cube.

The Cube

Room 01

Examine the table in the middle of the room. Open the compartment cover in the middle. Slide the purple array of buttons to the right, then move the green battery into the slot next to the buttons. Based on the small paper note, press buttons 2, 4 and 5 from the left. Close the compartment cover, then drag the key to the bottom left. Press the unlock button to open the door. Head through the door to the right.

Room 02

Click on the skeleton Who was he?. Examine the table in the middle of the room. You need to find a path from the bottom left to the bottom right, alternating through red and blue gates:

The shortest solution is: O, P, I, C, D, J, Q, R, K, E, F, L, M, T, S, L, F, E, K, R, Q, J, D, A, B, G, H, N, U, V. Press the unlock button to open the doors. Go through the top door.

Room 03

Examine the table and answer the questions with 20, 32, 12 and 10. Press the unlock button to open the doors. Go through the left door Time flies!. Head down twice.

Room 04

Click on the container in the corner of the room Genius!. Examine the table in the middle of the room. Enter the code based on the number of vertical lines on the grate to the right: 1321. Take the screwdriver and use it on the screws around the grate. Slide the latch to the right to reveal a new puzzle. If the squares here are numbered 1-25 from the top left to bottom right, then the squares highlighted are 9, 2 and 23, so enter the code 9223.

Close the screwdriver compartment to see a mathematical formula written on a scrap of paper. Notice that the paper has two different shades - if you just look at the bottom half, it says V I I II. Convert this from Roman numerals and enter the code 5112. Press the unlock button to open the door. Return up twice.

Room 03

Open a small panel in the top wall and crawl through.

Room 05

Click on the large metal plate on the wall The Older Ones. Examine the table in the middle of the room. For this challenge, you must click the button at the bottom left to start and then stop each of the connectors rotating. You need to time their stopping to line up with the next in the chain. Once all are aligned, press the unlock button to open the door. Go through the right door The light of other stars. Now head down and right.

Room 06

Click on the weapon in the corner Gantry Gun. Examine the table in the middle of the room. Here you need to get the 4 pointers aiming at the green marks. From the starting position, click the 4 pointers this number of times:

Count the number of angles making up each shape and enter the code 4270. The next clue is an anagram of the phrase "The key is time". Enter the current time on your computer as a 4-digit number. You now see a series of 4 equations. The answer is the sum of the digits in the 2-digit number, and the square of the single digit number. Enter the code 1216. Press the unlock button to open the door. Now head left, down twice and right.

Room 07

Click on the walkie-talkie in the vines to the right Back to 80s. Go down the stairs.

Room 08

Click on the blue cylinder on the left The Empty. Examine the table in the middle of the room. Click the buttons at the bottom right to see they make up the colors of the rainbow, then click them in this order:

Next look at the large shapes making up the whole panel. These correspond with lines around the numbers in the number panel, so enter the code 6358. If you drag some of the numbers on the number panel you will see letters beneath them, which can spell the word ZERO. Enter the corresponding code 9831. This will reveal the number 0, so you can now enter the code 1280. Press the unlock button to open the doors. Go through the left door Prehistoric World. If you hide the captions at the bottom, you can click on a butterfly A Sound of Thunder. Now head right.

Room 09

Examine the table in the middle of the room. You need to click on the green squares in order to remove them all:

Press the unlock button to open the door. Head right.

Room 10

Click on the robot to remove its hand T-800. Examine the table in the middle of the room. Drag the numbers around so each side of the triangle adds up to 17:

Pay attention to the flashing red light on the code panel, counting the number of times it flashes, then enter the code 2321. Now look at the left half of each of the 4 glyphs to see numbers, and enter the code 2618. Take the screwdriver and use it on the screws to remove the wire. Drag the wire to connect it to the left panel and you will automatically screw it back in. Now you need to type numbers corresponding with II, VI, X. Press the buttons 2, 6 and then the X in the top right corner. Press the unlock button to open the door. Head up Now I know everything!.

From here, go left twice, up, left, up and left.

Room 01

Use the teleporter to the left The Fly. Now go right, up, right and up.

Room 11

Click on the book on the crates A notebook. Notice the writing on the wall, then examine the table in the middle of the room. You need to clear all the squares by moving around like a knight moves in chess:

Drag the question mark button to the left to knock the pin out and open the panel below. Following the hints, click on the buttons to set their colors as follows:

Now press the buttons according to the non-flashing lights: Orange, Purple, Orange, White, Red. Press the unlock button to open the door. Open a secret panel in the left wall and go through The Red Queen.

Room 12

Look at the hand-prints on the wall here (left, left, right, left, right, right). You need to go through doors from here in the same order, each time starting from room 12:

  • Go left to room 11, then back to room 12
  • Go left to room 11, then back to room 12
  • Go right to room 13, then back to room 12
  • Go left to room 11, then back to room 12
  • Go right to room 13, then back to room 12
  • Go right to room 13, then back to room 12

Now click on the box in the middle of the room Lemarchand's box. Head right.

Room 13

This room holds all the items you have found so far. You cannot open the door yet. From here, go left twice, down, left, down twice, down the stairs and down.

Room 14

Examine the table in the middle of the room. You need to move the green tiles around the grid - when a tile is in the correct position it will turn a lighter shade. Get all 8 tiles into position without using any hints The Megamind. Slide the whole grid to the left, then drag the hidden tile to the empty space. Now click on the tiles to change their colors, until the top row is red, the middle row green, and the bottom row blue.

When a series of 9 symbols are shown, trying entering random codes twice. Now using the grid that appears on the left, you need to work out the symbols that mean 6, 2, 9 and 5. Enter this code: Gear, House, Key, Paw. Press the unlock button to open the door, then head right.

Room 15

Search the crates on the right to find a spinning top Talisman. Examine the table in the middle of the room. You need to highlight tiles to solve a Picross puzzle:

Now click on the discs to move them around so they are surrounded by rings of the same color. Now press the discs in the order of the Olympic rings (blue, black, red, yellow, green). Press the unlock button to open the door, then head right.

Room 16

Examine the table in the middle of the room. The first riddle is based on a Caesar cipher, requiring you to change "ehud-svn-sgqdd-nmd" into "five-two-three-one". Enter the code 5231. The next riddle gives you 4 elements (Uranium, Aluminium, Silicon, Carbon). Press buttons corresponding to 4 related items: Radiation, Plane, Computer Chip, Diamond. Now rearrange the numbers to add up to the desired totals:

Now you have to rearrange the numbers back in their original positions by using the arrow buttons around the edge. Once done, press the unlock button to open the door.

Room 17

Just wait here and do nothing for a minute. Click on the black ball that appears Magic 8 ball.

Ending

Return to the main menu. Go to the options screen, then view the credits. Notice the sequence of numbers at the bottom left, then see the 3 buttons on the left. If these buttons are numbered 1-3 from top to bottom, press them in the order indicated (1, 3, 3, 2, 3, 2, 2) A time traveller. Return to the game. Head right, up, left, up twice, left, up twice, right and up.

Room 11

Open the secret panel in the left wall and go through again. Now that you have the secret code, you will not die straight away. After going through the door, click on the coffee cup Coffee Time!. Watch the end of the sequence Armageddon. Go right twice.

Room 13

Head through the right door Wishing Machine.
