Gordian Rooms: A Curious Heritage is a first-person puzzle game where you are undertaking a challenge set by your wealthy uncle. You must explore his Victorian era mansion in order to claim his legacy. There are 6 Steam Achievements, all documented in the walkthrough below.

The Basement

Turn around and flip the switch on the wall. Spin the candle around on the wall here to see the number 725. Now head downstairs. Grab the key from the low set of shelves. Look at the large panel on the wall here. Insert your key and turn it, then pull open the door. Examine the set of 3 numbers at the bottom here and input the code 725. Now pull open the door above. For this puzzle, you just need to spin the various pipes so they are all connected with no loose ends.

After the lights turn on, close the inner door and notice the image of a number and boxes on the inside of the outer door. Look to the right and open the tiny box on the wall to find another key.

Back out and turn around to find a 1911 wine bottle. Grab the red sack of lentils from the set of 5 scales on the left wall. Take a blunt pair of shears from on top of the green cloth, then go into the small alcove just to the right. Pick up the blue sack of corn from the shelves. Examine the workbench and use your shears on the grindstone to sharpen them. Pick up the wooden rod (1/7) from on top of the bench, then find a horseshoe (1/4) beneath the bench. Note another image of a number and boxes on the side wall.

Exit the alcove and look at the large sacks on the floor against the opposite wall. Slide the right one to the side, then find a brown sack of peas in a niche here. Find another wooden rod (2/7) just to the left of the large sacks.

Turn around and approach the large red cupboard. Insert your key and turn it, then pull open both doors. Grab the yellow sack of rice. Back out and open the top drawer at the bottom of the cupboard, then take another wooden rod (3/7) from inside. You cannot open the bottom drawer yet as you don't have the combination.

Back out and look up at the ceiling to see a green sack above you. Cut the rope on the wall with your sharpened shears, then pick up the green sack of sawdust.

Return to the set of 5 scales on the wall. You will see markings on the wooden panel indicating the levels the scales need to reach. By trial and error you can find out that you should place the sacks on the scales in this order: red, blue, green, yellow, brown. Back out and examine the wooden box on the floor to the left. Open the lid and take the wooden rod (4/7) and piece of wood from inside. Look at the piece of wood to see numerical values for 2 symbols. Look on the inner aspect of the box's lid to see some more information about the symbol values.

Now look at the symbols on the 5 sacks that you placed on the scales. Go to the locked bottom drawer in the red cupboard and enter the combination of symbols from the sacks, then pull open the drawer. Inside, take another wooden rod (5/7) and an 1891 wine bottle.

Back out and go to the large boiler at the end of the main hallway. Slowly turn each of the 3 valves until a light comes on. Pull open the door to find another wooden rod (6/7) and another image of a number and boxes. Look down the end of the side hallway to see a final image of a number and boxes on the end of a barrel. Look at the wooden box on the floor opposite the boiler. Open it with the numbers you have seen on the 4 images:

  • Top: 5
  • Left: 2
  • Right: 8
  • Bottom: 5

Lift open the lid and take the 1902 wine bottle. Back out and look to the right to see another wine bottle trapped in a device on top of some barrels next to the red cupboard. If you number the rings 1-6 from top to bottom, drag them to the side in this order:

  • Drag ring 3 to the right
  • Drag ring 5 to the left
  • Drag ring 4 to the left
  • Drag ring 6 to the left
  • Drag ring 1 to the right
  • Drag ring 2 to the right

Now take the 1918 wine bottle. Head down the side hallway and look at the wine rack on the right. Read the note saying you will need 4 more bottles. Look at the floor beneath the bottom wine rack to find a secret message (1/4). Now insert your 4 wine bottles into empty spaces in the rack:

  • Place the 1891 wine bottle in the 1st shelf (no date indicator)
  • Place the 1902 wine bottle in the 5th shelf (-1909)
  • Place the 1911 wine bottle in the 2nd shelf (-1917)
  • Place the 1918 wine bottle in the 4th shelf (-1919)

Look at the strange machine to the left of the wine rack. You need to slide the vertical bars up and down to create an empty path for each of the silver rods to slide through. After the device opens, take another wooden rod (7/7), another piece of wood, and a small triangular shape (1/4).

Go back to the workbench and turn to the right. Insert your 7 wooden rods into the broken ladder. Now climb the ladder to find a puzzle on the ceiling. You need to spin the 3 rings here to make correct mathematical sums:

  • Outer Ring: The circular symbol should be on the right
  • Middle Ring: The circular symbol should be on the left
  • Inner Ring: The circular symbols should be on the left and the bottom-right

You will automatically climb up through the trapdoor Basement.

The Kitchen

Turn around and look at the 4 colored plates. Pick up a painted tile (1/16) from between them. Look at the tall cupboards to the left - open the right cupboard and look in the shelves to find a puzzle. Rotate all of the discs so you can take the next painted tile (2/16). Now open the left cupboard and spin the plates at the top right to find another painted tile (3/16).

Find a small cupboard up on the wall to the left of the tall cupboards. Inside there is an image of two valves. Look down at the radiator and turn the left valve to point up to the left, and the right valve to point down. Now you can open the left cupboard and take a screwdriver.

Turn left and go further into the kitchen. Look down to find a loose floor tile, and force it free with your screwdriver. You can now pick up the next painted tile (4/16), and see the message EAT. Look to the right and take the lid off the large saucepan. Also take the green pan hanging here, and the wooden board of ingredients to the left. Open the bottom left door of the stove and you will see another image of two valves. Return to the radiator. Adjust the valves so the left one points down to the right, and the right one points right. Now you can open the right cupboard and take a painted tile (5/16).

Go further into the kitchen again and search the high cupboards to the left to find a blue pot and a cheese grater. Search the low cupboards and drawers to find a purple pan, a small panel (1/3) and another painted tile (6/16).

Look at the brown device on the bench to the right of the sink. By trial and error you can work out the correct order to move the 6 latches:

  1. Bottom right
  2. Top left
  3. Middle right
  4. Middle left
  5. Bottom left
  6. Top right

Lift the lid and grab the next painted tile (7/16). Next head over to the fridge on the left and unlock it with the code EAT. Take another painted tile (8/16) from beneath the wine bottles. Also take the metallic food plate from the bottom shelf. Now examine the cheese box, which requires a series of 5 symbols to open. Copy the 5 symbols from the middle column of the wooden board you are holding, then slide open the box. Take the cheese from inside. In your inventory, use the grater on the cheese to find a padlock key.

Back out and examine the table behind you. Take the cutting board from on the table, and the painted tile (9/16) from the floor beneath the table. Move the loose floor tile beneath the table to find a horseshoe (2/4). Examine the cutting board in your inventory and flip it over to find yet another painted tile (10/16).

Go back to where you started the kitchen and look at the wooden door. Unlock the padlock with your key, then push open the door and go through. Look down to the right to find a small hammer. Pick up an orange bottle of cumin from the shelves just to the left. Further to the left, take the top left round box and you will automatically find a shiny pebble inside. Further left again, look down low between the 2 bookshelves to find a secret message (2/4). Look into the bottom left corner to find a red pan. Now close the room door and look down at the puzzle that was hidden behind it. You need to adjust the 4 symbols here to match those shown on the 4 colored plates where you started the kitchen. Open the box and take the painted tile (11/16) from inside.

Return out to the main kitchen area. Go to the stove and hang your 4 pans in the order of the colored plates (red, blue, green, purple). Now you can open the top left door of the stove and take the next painted tile (12/16). Look on top of the stove and put the shiny pebble into the pot to dissolve the grease - you can now see 3 symbols inside. Enter this on the large stove door. Pull open the door to find another small panel (2/3) and painted tile (13/16).

On the bench to the left you will find a round device with a small central depression. Place the bottle of cumin on this, then open the drawer below to find the next painted tile (14/16). Further to the left on the bench is a plate with a glass cover - break this with your small hammer and take another painted tile (15/16).

Go back to the starting hallway and look at the tangle of wires on the left wall. Take out the small panel (3/3) from the right. Now insert the 3 small panels in the 3 sockets so the connecting wires join matching symbols. Drag open the dumbwaiter door and put your metallic food plate inside. Press the up button on the left, then look into the gap and take the final painted tile (16/16).

Back out and spin around to look at the empty wooden panel next to the colored plates. Insert your 16 painted tiles, then rotate them to form a picture. Look in the compartment that opens and take the button and the small triangular shape (2/4). Now you can finally look at the large puzzle to the left of the radiator. Insert the button near the bottom, and use the triangular piece on the switch to the left. To solve this puzzle, the movable piece must reach the bottom left corner. You use the arrow buttons to guide the movable piece, then press the circle button to slide the colored pieces when you are over the appropriate colored arrows. The correct order of colors to move in this way is as follows:

  • Blue
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Purple
  • Red
  • Green
  • Red
  • Blue

This should free the path so you can reach the bottom left corner. You will automatically go through the door Kitchen.

The Lounge

Turn around and pick up the bordeaux-striped pool ball from the ground. Turn back around and approach a small coffee table over to the right. Take the blue dart and the red-striped pool ball. Now head over towards the barred doorway in the far right corner of the room. Look at the trophy shelf to the left. Look inside one trophy to find a green pool ball, and slide another to the side to reveal a green-striped pool ball. Next examine the small panel on the wall just to the right of the barred doorway - you just need to click on the buttons to turn on all the lights. Now head into the small side room.

Turn around and look in the potted plant to find a black pool ball. Also take the copper key from on the table. Look at the large coffee machine on the bar and take the bordeaux pool ball from on top of it. While you are here, note the image of pool balls above the doorway. Return out to the main room.

Turn right and grab the red dart from the dart board, and the yellow dart from the painting just to the left. Turn left and open the cupboard here to see another image of pool balls on the inside aspect of the left door. Take the orange-striped pool ball from inside the cupboard. Look in the shelves to the left to find a yellow pool ball and a doe figurine. Find a small dining table further around to the left, and pick up the round bottle of wine. Look at the sign here to see 2, 5, 13 and a phone symbol at the bottom. This actually allows you to solve two puzzles. First note the colors of the highlighted numbers, which correspond with the colors of your 3 darts. There are also 4 sequences of numbers reading vertically, and you need to work out the next number:

  • 8, 5, 3, 2, 1 (1)
  • 1, 4, 3, 6, 5 (8)
  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (6)
  • 3, 1, 4, 1, 5 (1)

Return to the small side room and use the telephone to dial the number 1861. Open the dumbwaiter and take out the rectangular bottle of whiskey. Go back out to the dart board and place your darts as follows:

  • Red: 2
  • Yellow: 5
  • Blue: 13

Now you can open the other cupboard door to the left and grab a purple pool ball and a white piano key. Look at the inner aspect of the door to see 4 types of symbols:

  • 4 squares
  • 3 triangles
  • 6 circles
  • 2 octagons

Next head towards the piano. Take an orange pool ball from the piano stool, and an octagonal bottle of gin from the top of the piano. Use your copper key in the piano itself; turn the key and open the lid. Look at the right side of the keyboard and insert the white key, then press it to reveal a secret room. Enter this room and take the note from the safe.

Leave the secret room and head over to the pool table. Take the rabbit figurine from the table. Look at the small table to the left and examine the puzzle box with 9 buttons. Through trial and error you can work out the correct sequence to press the 9 buttons:

  1. Top
  2. Bottom left
  3. Top left
  4. Top right
  5. Bottom
  6. Middle
  7. Bottom right
  8. Left
  9. Right

Open the lid and take the yellow-striped pool ball from inside. On the wall above here is a third image of pool balls. Back out and go further around to a red sofa. Take the large rod from the sofa, the fox figurine from the small table on the right, and the triangular bottle of champagne from the small table on the left. Now head to the middle of the room. There are 4 columns, each with a different symbol at the top which correspond to the paper you took from the safe. Below the symbols are the series of directions to get from the symbol on the paper to the green square in the middle. You can only adjust the directions on two of the columns:

  • Circle with Cross: N, W, W, S, S
  • Rectangle with Lines: E, E, N, W, N

Take the goat figurine from the pedestal that rises from the ground. Also spin a hidden compartment in the pedestal to find a horseshoe (3/4). Go back to the small side room and look at the large coffee machine on the bar. Insert the large rod into the side, and note the numbers 4, 3, 0, 8 on the side of the rod once inserted. Look at the slots on the front of the machine and insert the bottles from left to right based on their number of sides: rectangular, triangular, round, octagonal. Set the numbers based on the image on the inner aspect of the cupboard near the dart board: 4, 3, 6, 2. Pull the rod on the side of the machine. The light on the coffee machine will turn green if everything is correct.

Go out to the pool table and insert all of the pool balls into the triangle. The positions are based on the 3 images you have seen. There are 5 rows (from top to bottom):

  • Orange
  • Orange-striped, bordeaux-striped
  • Red, purple-striped, blue-striped
  • Bordeaux, green-striped, yellow-striped, purple
  • Red-striped, yellow, blue, green, black

The light on the pool table will turn red if everything is correct. Now you can go back to the secret room and open the safe. Take the small triangular shape (3/4) and the stag figurine. Return to the side room and go to the chess board. Look at the bottom of the stag figurine to work out where each of the figures should be placed:

  • Stag: Top left corner
  • Goat: Top right corner
  • Fox: Middle
  • Doe: Bottom left corner
  • Rabbit: Bottom right corner

The light on the chess board will turn blue if everything is correct. Go back to the secret room and examine the door at the far end. Slide up the hatch at the bottom and take the secret message (3/4). Now you need to press the 3 buttons on the left in a specific order to move the purple, yellow and red markers on to their correct squares. You can reset the puzzle with the button on the far right. One solution is: middle, right, left, right, right, left, left, middle. You will automatically go through the door Lounge.

My Uncle's Study

Turn around and open the tall cupboard to the left of the chest. Take the torn piece of paper that says "E". Slide the box on the ground to the right and open the bottom cupboard door. Look in the back to find the final secret message (4/4) Nothing is simple.... You don't know the combination for the small box here, so back out for now.

Head over on to the large carpet and examine the bookcase. Pick up the curved wooden panel and flip the switch here. Note the images of 7 yellow flowers on the books here. Turn around and take the round wooden panel from the low table. Go over to the side of the large portrait in the middle of the room and take another curved wooden panel from the floor, and a crank from the tiny table. Notice the 4 yellow dial symbols here.

Go to the other part of the room and take the crowbar from the floor behind the dog statue. Next examine the large desk. Open the middle drawer and take out the large round wooden panel. Close the drawer and take the ordinary key hanging on a hook beneath this drawer. Use this key on the top right drawer; turn the key and open the drawer to see a picture of 2 purple flowers. Close this drawer and open the middle right drawer to find a circular piece of metal. Open the top left drawer and take a puzzle box from inside. Search the middle left drawer to find a strange plaque. In your inventory, look at the back of this plaque, then open the puzzle box with the word SUN. Open the lid and search the box to find a shiny key and a torn piece of paper that says "R".

Back out and examine the tall cabinet to the right of the chest. Open the glass compartment and take the piece of paper. Use the shiny key on the solid compartment and open it, then take the projector. In your inventory, combine the piece of paper with the strange plaque. Go back to the desk and open the large puzzle box with the word VENUS. Open the lid and search the box to find a brass key and the number 1610. Next look at the blank space on the desk and place the projector here. Add the circular piece of metal and the crank. Turn the crank, then look at the wall to the left to see an image of 3 red flowers.

Return to the tall cupboard to the left of the chest. Open the puzzle box inside with the code 1610. Lid the lid and take the heavy weight (1/3) from inside. Look at the wooden box on the floor to the left. Open this with your crowbar, then take the ornate box from inside. Examine this in your inventory - press the odd-looking corner, then take another heavy weight (2/3) from inside. Examine the small cabinet on the wall above here. Unlock this with your brass key. Open the door, then turn the 4 dials to match the yellow dial symbols from earlier:

  • Top left
  • Bottom left
  • Right
  • Bottom right

Now open the glass part of this cabinet and take the torn piece of paper that says "GO". Spin the large vase to find the final heavy weight (3/3). Go to the control panel to the right of this cupboard to see 3 sliders: purple, yellow and red. You must set these to match the numbers of the various colors of flowers you have seen (2, 7, 3). The easiest way to achieve this is as follows:

  • Move purple to 2
  • Move yellow to 5
  • Move red to 3 (purple will go to 0)
  • Move purple to 2 (yellow will go to 7)

Go to the table at the far end of the room near the dog statue. Add your 4 wooden panels, then rotate them to complete the portrait. Search the small open slot on the side of the puzzle to find a torn piece of paper that says "GR". Look to the wall just to the right to see another letter puzzle and enter the name GREGOR (based on all the torn pieces of paper). Now look down to the ground and pick up the flower-shaped cogwheel that was released from the dog statue.

Turn around and examine the mechanical device in the wall to the left of the bird cage. Hang your 3 heavy weights from the hooks. Insert your cogwheel in the slot to the bottom left. Now pull the lever. Take the final horseshoe (4/4) from the cage. Go back to the chest near the entrance and place your 4 horseshoes on its surface, then open the chest True heritage.

Go back to the bird cage and examine the puzzle inside. The goal is to make all of the tiles light up. Once you are done, examine the puzzle again and take the final small triangular shape (4/4). Go back to the large desk. Examine the final puzzle box on the right side. Insert each of your 4 small triangular shapes into the sides of the box Study.
