Ben Jordan Case 7: The Cardinal Sins is the seventh in a long-running series of point-and-click adventures starring Ben Jordan, and created by Grundislav Games. This follows after Ben Jordan Case 6: Scourge of the Sea People. In this game, you are investigating a man who has murdered a priest, but claims to have been possessed by a demon. The series continues with Ben Jordan Case 8: Relics of the Past.

Introduction

Look at the photograph in the bookcase, and look at the wound on your grandfather's neck. Back out and pick up the boot from the floor on the right. Answer the phone when it rings. After the conversation, use the phone to call Simon and Alice.

Day 1

L'Albergo Dante

Ask Simon about everything, then leave the hotel room.

Police Station

Talk to the desk sergeant. Take a pencil from the cup on the desk, then head through the doors to the right. Go over to cell 3 and ask Renzi about everything. Talk to the desk sergeant again on the way out.

L'Albergo Dante

Ask Simon about everything, and he will give you 3 more locations to explore.

Crime Scene

Look at the chalk outline and the blood, then pick up the piece of paper near the door on the right. Look at the business card in your inventory, then leave the alley.

San Silvestro in Capite

Ask the priest about everything.

Teatro Manzoni

Ask the usher about everything, then leave through the double doors.

Give the business card to Simon, and he will adjust it for you.

Teatro Manzoni

Show your updated business card to the usher, then enter the dressing room. Grab the tape recorder from the dressing table, and use this in your inventory to find it contains a blank tape. Search the drawers and the costumes, then leave the room again. After meeting up with Percy, leave the theatre.

You will end the day after Alice arrives.

Day 2

Ask Alice about everything, then leave.

Police Station

Go through to the cell block and go over to cell 3. Pick up the piece of paper and look at it, then turn it over and use the pencil on it to reveal a symbol. Go out and talk to the desk sergeant about everything before leaving.

Percy's Hotel

Ask Percy about everything. Show him the symbol, then talk to him some more before leaving.

Ask Simon to research everything.

San Silvestro in Capite

Ask Father McNamara about everything. Show him the symbol, then leave.

L'Albergo Dante

Ask Simon to do some more research, and you will get a new location.

Basilica di San Pietro

Ask the Swiss Guard about everything, then enter the building. Walk right and talk to Cardinal Genovese about everything. Show him the symbol. Try to enter the door just here, but you will need to distract the Cardinal first. Go further to the right and enter the door on the right of the confessional. Put your tape recorder on the shelf, then leave again. Return to the Cardinal and ask him for a confession. Back in the confessional, press record on the tape recorder, then sit down and confess any of the sins. Go back to the Cardinal and ask for another confession. This time press play on the tape recorder, then leave. Return to the left and go through the door behind the rope. Look at the nameplates here, then go through the door on the left.

Examine the paper on the desk. Use the notepad on the desk, then use your symbol on it to find a match. Try to use the gold box. Now you can leave the office, the corridor and the church.

Ask Simon to do some more research about your new location, then ask Alice to come with you.

Bianchi's Apartment

Ask the man about everything. Look at the call box, then try to use it, but Bianchi will not let you inside. Ask Alice about everything, then leave.

Teatro Manzoni

Enter the dressing room and use the costumes to find a plumber's outfit. Search this in your inventory to find a white glove.

Ask Alice to accompany you to Bianchi's once more.

Bianchi's Apartment

Use the call box and tell Bianchi you are the plumber, then head inside. Use the plumber's outfit on yourself, then talk to Alice about your plan. Knock on the right door and you will head inside. Wait in the first room until Bianchi is called away, then quickly take the keys. Head into the bedroom on the left. Look at everything in here, but you can't search it with Bianchi looking. Head out to the first room and leave to the right. You will automatically talk to Alice and return to the hotel.

While you are talking to Simon, say that Bianchi belongs to the Knights of St Anthony.

Bianchi's Apartment

After Simon gets Bianchi to leave, use the keys on the front door and go inside. Next use the keys on the apartment door and go inside. Walk left into the bedroom. Examine the strange object on the dresser to see that it has 10 buttons and a carving of St Anthony of Padua (patron of the lost). You need to press buttons that relate to lost objects:

  • Fountain of Youth
  • Atlantis (Atlantic Ocean)
  • Lost Galleon of the Salton Sea
  • Ark of the Covenant

Pull the handle and take the cross from inside. After Bianchi returns home, use the plumber's outfit on yourself again, then leave.

Basilica di San Pietro

Talk to the Swiss Guard, then talk to your friends and get them to distract the guard with some performance art - you will automatically sneak inside. Walk right and go through the door behind the rope. Enter Bianchi's office and use your cross on the gold box. Now use the cross and go through the opening. Look at all 6 of the plaques in the cabinet here. Defend your actions from Bianchi.

Grotto

Ask Bianchi about everything, then walk along the hallway. Move the red cloth to see some writing beneath it. Go back to Bianchi and ask him about the inscription until he accompanies you. Now use your white glove to take the amulet.

Wine Cellar

Use the loose ring on the bottom of the barrel to cut your ropes. Next use the spigot on the large wine cask 3 times. Break off part of the loose ring and use this on the indentation in the floor. Search the comaprtment to find a leather-bound book.
