Ben Jordan Case 2: The Lost Galleon of the Salton Sea is the second in a long-running series of point-and-click adventures starring Ben Jordan, and created by Grundislav Games. This follows after Ben Jordan Case 1: In Search of the Skunk-Ape. In this game, you are investigating the disappearance of a treasure hunter in the desert town of Dunesberg. There are 2 versions of the game (original and deluxe), and this walkthrough covers both. The series continues with Ben Jordan Case 3: The Sorceress of Smailholm.

Original Edition

Dunesberg

Talk to Annie about everything, then take the bowl from the table before heading outside. Follow the path behind the house on the left, then search the crate to get a stick of dynamite.

Return to town and visit the Medicine Man. Take the mortar and pestle from the shelf on the right, then talk to the Medicine Man about everything. Go back outside, then continue right into the grocery store. Take an ear of corn before leaving again. Continue right and enter The Drunken Scorpion. Grab the box of matches from the end of the bar, then talk to the bartender about everything (you will buy a beer). Also talk to Jebediah, who gives you a dowsing stick and wants some moonshine. Go back outside and enter the coffee shop to the right. Talk to the employee about everything (you will buy a coffee), then take a packet of sugar from the bench before leaving.

Return to the left end of town and enter the large abandoned house. Use the dowsing stick in the hole at the bottom of the still, then set it on fire with your box of matches. Pour your beer into the liquid receptacle, and you will end up with a glob of malt. Use your stick of dynamite on the safe, then light it with your matches. Now search the safe to get a packet of yeast and a recipe for moonshine. Examine the recipe in your inventory. Combine the ear of corn with the mortar and pestle to get some cornmeal. Now put the cornmeal, sugar, yeast and malt into your bowl. Empty the bowl into the liquid receptacle to end up with some home-brewed moonshine.

Go back outside and return to The Drunken Scorpion - the bartender will tell you that Jebediah has gone to Annie's house. Return there now to learn more from Jebediah. Next go to the Medicine Man. Talk to him to find out he needs some cactus extract. Return to the coffee shop and look at the banner above the door. Talk to the employee and order some Jitter Juice. Go back to The Drunken Scorpion and talk to the man throwing knives. Challenge him and win (because you had the jitter juice). Go out behind Annie's house again and use your knife on the cactus.

Return to town and enter the large abandoned house. Put the piece of cactus into the liquid receptacle and you will get some cactus extract. Go back to the Medicine Man and give him the cactus extract, then you will receive an anti-venom kit and some medical tape. Return to Annie's house and Jebediah will let you borrow his car.

Salton Sea

Pick up the flower, then go left and talk to the man here about everything. Search the metal box to find a damaged wet-suit, then continue left. Talk to the woman about everything, then go left and enter the souvenir shop. Grab the large snow globe and you will buy it (and receive a souvenir pen). Talk to the clerk, then leave and return to the woman. Use your knife on your snow globe, and you will now have a valve and a makeshift helmet. Give the valve to the woman, and you will get the oxygen tank. Go right and use the souvenir pen on your moonshine recipe to make a fake map. Use the flower on the man, and you will switch the maps automatically.

Walk behind the right on the right to find a new area. Read the sign here about the toxic water. Use the tape on the wet-suit, then add the makeshift helmet and oxygen tank. Look at the real map in your inventory, then use the home-made diving suit on the water.

The Lost Galleon

Give the anti-venom kit to George, then talk to him about everything. Use the bottle of moonshine on the cell door, then use your matches on it. Out in the corridor, walk to the right and go through the right door. Take any bottle of wine. Return out to the corridor and go through the left door. Try to take a black pearl from the pile here, but the ghost will stop you. Talk to George so that he creates a distraction, then quickly grab a black pearl. In your inventory, combine this with the mortar and pestle. Put the crushed pearl into the bottle of wine to make a spirit box. Now try to take another black pearl so that the ghost appears, and use the spirit box on him.

Annie's House

Ask Annie about everything. Take the bowl from the table and read the police report in your inventory, before heading outside.

Downtown Dunesberg

Break off some glass tube from the statue outside the Medicine Man's Holistic Emporium. Head inside and ask the Medicine Man about everything. Take the stethoscope from the skeleton, and the mortar and pestle from the shelf on the right. Go back outside, then continue right into the supermarket. Talk to the young man until he gives you a jar of Marmite. Take an ear of corn from the produce basket in the corner, and a box of malted milk balls from the shelves. Show either of these items to the cashier to pay for them both. Go back outside, then continue right and enter The Drunken Scorpion. Grab the box of matches from the end of the bar, then ask the bartender about everything (you will buy a beer). Also talk to Jebediah, who gives you a dowsing stick and wants some moonshine. Go back outside and leave the town.

Radley House

Open the book in your inventory to find a laminated bookmark. Use this on the door to unlock it, then go inside. Try to open the safe, then use the stethoscope on it. Look at the old paper your find inside to see it is a recipe for moonshine. Now leave the old house.

Abandoned Mine

Use the crowbar on the boards over the mine entrance, then head inside. Take the signal scrambler from the table, then leave again.

Downtown Dunesberg

Enter the coffee shop and use the signal scrambler in your inventory so the woman in the queue leaves. Talk to the other customer until he eventually leaves. Now ask the barista until you buy a coffee (you will also get a packet of sugar).

Abandoned Mine

In your inventory, put some malted milk balls into the mortar, then use the mortar and pestle to end up with some malt. Next put the ear of corn into the mortar, then use the mortar and pestle to make cornmeal. Now add the marmite, malt, cornmeal and sugar to your bowl. Use the bowl, glass tube and dowsing stick on the old bathtub. Use your matches on the firewood. Back in your inventory, use the bowl on the empty beer bottle to fill it with moonshine.

Annie's House

Give the bowl back to Annie.

Downtown Dunesberg

Enter The Drunken Scorpion. Give the beer bottle filled with moonshine to Jebediah.

Bombay Beach

Use your crowbar on the trunk of the abandoned car to get a journal. Read this in your inventory to see a poem. Walk left, then approach the motel and go inside. Search the drawer on the left to get some silverware. Also take the plastic flowers from the table on the right. Go back outside, then approach the distant trailer. Ask Edgar about everything - he needs you to help write a song, so you need to walk around and get some ideas.

Go back into the motel and look at the painting on the wall. Outside, look at the empty swimming pool. Go out to where you parked your car and look at the debris on the left and the road in the background. Return left and approach the trailer to the left. Ask the obese woman about everything, then enter the trailer. Talk to Aqua Lad about everything, then return out to the main area and go left. Look at the Salton Sea ("Salton Sea"), then ask the man here about everything. Give him the malted milk balls and the plastic flowers. After he leaves, look at the slide.

Return right and approach the trailer on the left. Go inside and give the car key to Aqua Lad. Take the gold trophy from the shelf. Go back outside and head to the distant trailer again. Look at the song in your inventory, and fill in the black spaces with "explosion", "debris", "road" and "Salton Sea". Give the song to Edgar, and he will give you his platinum record. Go back to the beach and throw the silverware, gold trophy and platinum record into the sea.

The Lost Galleon

Take a piece of the sail. Use your crowbar on the hatch door, then climb down. Give the coffee to George. Combine the torn sail and beer bottle in your inventory, then use this on the cell door. Use your matches on it. Walk right and pick up the treasure chest. Go through the left door and take some bones from the bed. Try to open the roll-top desk, but the ghost will stop you. Go back out and enter the right door. Try to take some gold coins from the pile of coins. Talk to George and ask him to distract the ghost, then take some gold coins.

In your inventory, combine the bones with the chest, then add the treasure. Use your spirit box on the treasure on the floor. Wait for George to return, then try to take some more gold coins.
