AlternativA is a dystopian adventure set in 2045 following a nuclear holocaust. It tells 3 separate interweaving stories, with different chapters seeing you control different protagonists.

Day 1: Richard

Gate G-14

After talking with the android, go to the container. Look at the barrels in the container and use your glove on the open barrel to get a metal rod. Go into the alley and look in the garbage bag to get a smooth stone. Return out of the alley and go to the damaged tram. Search the cardboard box next to the tram to find a roll of tape. Use the tape on your metal road to make it easier to hold. Go south from the tram to find the train station.

Try to look at the terminal - if there is a train at the station you have to wait for it to leave. Use your metal rod to pry open the cover, then use it again on the chemicals to end up with dried chemicals on your rod. Return to the gate.

Head back into the alley and use the flame to heat up the rod. Now use the rod on your pass to charge it with the chemicals. Head to the station again and board the train.

Richard's Apartment

After talking to Andy, take the knife and pliers from the wardrobe and the remote from Andy's bed. Look at the remote, then use your knife on it to remove the batteries. Leave the apartment and head down the street to the bar.

Talk to Tom and then to the drunk. Agree to help him, then give him your batteries - he keeps them but now needs a smaller one.

Gate G-14

Go to the gate and talk to Andy to get his permission to search through his things.

Richard's Apartment

Go up to the apartment and look at Andy's bed. Search through the mess in the drawer and you will find an old digital watch. Use the knife on it to remove the battery. Head to the bar and give this smaller battery to the drunk. Now head outside and around the corner, then enter the warehouse at the end of the street. WHen you get inside, you will meet NoName, who will tell you to go and visitor Professor Petrenko. Leave this area.

Professor's Apartment

Climb down from the railway platform and enter the first building. Press the bell next to the door, but the man inside won't talk to you. Go back to the station and look at the map on the wall to board the train.

Richard's Apartment

Return to the warehouse to see NoName, who now blames you for Petrenko's murder. Say that you will prove your innocence by investigating yourself, and you will leave the warehouse.

Professor's Apartment

Talk to the policewoman outside Petrenko's door - she will let you inside if you help her with another case. Leave here.

Supermarket

Talk to the homeless guy and trade your pebble for some rotting plums. Search through the mess on the ground here to find a cork. Head down the street towards the shelters, and try talking to the girl on the bench. Look at her, then take her diary. Look at the diary in your inventory - you don't want to try forcing the lock in case you break it.

Richard's Apartment

Enter the bar and talk to Tom about the diary. Look at the keys in your inventory, and use the pliers to remove the extra ring, then use the pliers to straighten out the ring. Give your "hairpin" to Tom and he will unlock the diary. Read the diary, then return to the girl.

Supermarket

Talk to the girl on the bench, who tells you her name is Lenka.

Professor's Apartment

Talk to the policewoman, who agrees to remove the androids while you have a look around. Go up to the station, then go back down. Look at the cat, then touch it and you will see the word Performium on its chain. Head inside and into the apartment. In the front room, look at the Nobel prize awarded in 2013. Find a safe in the freezer, for which you don't have a code. In the back room, flip the switch on the wall, then pull down a hidden chalk board to see the code 113-PRF. Now look at the notes in your PDA, where you have suggested the safe code has something to do with the numbers you have found. Go back to the safe in the freezer and enter the code 1132013.

Look at the poster opposite the apartment door, then try to straighten it and it will tear away. Take the disc from the hidden video camera and use it in your PDA.

Richard's Apartment

Go to the warehouse and talk to NoName, who will give you a card and an EMP gun.

Gate G-14

Go through the gate to the Industrial District.

Go to the window and talk to the civil servant - your story is that you were recently fired from Theolex. Now look at the calling card on the desk, and both information displays. Talk to the civil servant again - say you were falsely accused and would do anything for a job with Endora. Head down the street and look at the back entrance to Theolex - check out the retina scanner and card slots. Back at the street, search through the discarded glass to find a laboratory bottle and a cooling coil.

Richard's Apartment

Talk to Tom, then head into his back room. Use the laboratory bottle on the distilling apparatus to assemble it, then use the empty jar on the apparatus and pick it up when it contains ethanol. Also make sure you take the crowbar from the box here, then return and talk to Tom again - he will mention the Slums' Hospital.

Hospital

Talk to the reception android, then look at the sign to the right, then talk again to find out where the morgue is located. Head down the corridor on the left, then use the elevator to get down to the morgue. Talk to the pathologist here - ask if he has enough clients, how he gets along with the androids and what he thinks of the hospital, then ask to stay alone for a moment, and mention Endora. Try to use the remote control hanging from the ceiling, but you need to know where the professor's body is being kept first.

Return to the hospital reception and use the terminal on the left - it is empty. Talk to the android again about the terminal and the professor. Offer to relieve her so she can recharge, then quickly look at the monitor to see where the professor is. Return down to the morgue and use the remote to open the correct box.

Gate G-14

Go to the back entrance of Theolex again and insert your Theolex card. Try entering any code, but you will undoubtedly be wrong. Look at the new database entry in your PDA to find out how the codes work. Use the terminal again and insert your card. Pay attention to the current security code number, and enter the following: "_2_0_1_3_1_1_3" where _ is substituted for the correct digit. Now use the eye on the scanner. Inside, look at the computers, but they are displaying an error. Look at the fuse box to see a fuse is missing.

Supermarket

Talk to the homeless guy about a microfuse, and he says he needs an oil cartridge for his android friend.

Richard's Apartment

Go to the street leading to the warehouse, and take the oil cartridge from the broken android on the left.

Supermarket

Talk to the homeless guy and he will give you a microfuse for your oil cartridge.

Gate G-14

Head into the Theolex building via the back entrance, and put the microfuse in the fuse box. Use the computer, and enter the details "petrenko" and "2013". Search for the family name of "pitra", then click on the details and hit the erase button. Leave Theolex and return to the civil servant. Talk to him and select the blackmail option.

Endora

Look at the shelf in the back corner of the room, then look at the locked drawer. Try to use the lock, then read the new database entry in your PDA. Look at the table here and take the pins from it. Look at the locked drawer again and use the pins on the lock. There are 3 combinations to work out using trial and error. The first is 12:00, 4:00 and 6:00. The second is 4:00 and 8:00. The third is 2:00, 6:00 and 10:00. Take the documents, then leave - you will automatically go back to the warehouse.

Richard's Apartment

After talking to NoName, head back to your room and you will find a note.

Professor's Apartment

Head down the stairs, and you will meet Andrea, then you will go to where she is staying.

Squat Area

Talk to Andrea, then leave her apartment and leave the squat area.

Richard's Apartment

Go up to your apartment and you will automatically go to sleep.

Day 2: Richard

Richard's Apartment

You will automatically visit NoName and get your next assignment.

Building Site

Go to the building on the right and head down the stairs. Try to open the door but it is locked, so search in the debris on the left. Use the key you find on the door, but it will get stuck. Keep trying the door until you break the key. Head back outside and take a twig from the bush next to the fence. Go back down the stairs and use the twig to clean the lock. Now use your pliers to open the door. On the other side, head out to the building site.

Try to open the trailer window, but it is stuck. Head around to the front and you will see there are two androids here - you cannot use your EMP on both. Head back to the outside of the building site and look at the car, then use it. Use your EMP gun on the car, then go back to the side of the trailer. Use your EMP gun on the single remaining android, then you will head inside. Look at the files on the left and take the Endora one. Try to go back out the door, but the androids have returned. Look at the windows, and you will find that the small one should open. Try to open it, then look at it, then use your pliers to open it and escape.

Squat Area

Go inside to see Andrea.

Kolin Labs

Press the button next to the gate and agree that you are the janitor, but you don't have an employee number yet. Look at the gate to see the key is in the lock. Look at the left pile of junk to find a metal plate, and slide it under the gate. Look at the right pile of junk to find a metal rod, and use this on the gate to push the key through. Try a second time and you will be through the gate.

Pick up the employee ID card and look at it in your inventory. Look at the number and the photo, then use your knife on both. Head inside and you will talk to a security guard. Tell him you are the new janitor, then ask what is done here, and pretend you are really an inspector. Enter the elevator and try to go to the 7th floor, then come back out. Talk to the security guard again, and he will activate the elevator. Go inside and press 7 again.

When you get to the 7th floor, an android stops you and forces you to go back down. Talk to the security guard again, who will open up level 8. Head into the elevator and press 8 this time. Look at the control panel on the wall here - you need a screwdriver, so head back down to the lobby. Talk to the security guard, who will give you a screwdriver. Go back up to level 8 and look at the control panel again. Use the screwdriver on the two screws on the left (the one on the right won't open anyway) and open the left panel. Flip the switch next to number 7 to activate the alarm.

Go back down to the lobby and talk to the guard, then go up to level 7. Look in the box on the far bottom left shelf twice and you will see a camera. Pick up the camera and get back in the lift. Head outside and you will automatically replace the camera. Back inside, talk to the guard once more, and he will give you the remote key.

Enter the lift and use the remote key on the small cover at the bottom of the panel, then press number 15. Take a TVD disc from the left and a box of radium from the right, then leave.

Squat Area

After talking to Andrea, leave the area.

Richard's Apartment

Go around the corner to the warehouse entrance. Try to open the doors but they are closed. Next try to lift up the sewer cover on the right, then open it with your crowbar. Climb down into the sewers. Look at the switches on the wall here, and try to use them - you will take an instruction manual. Climb back up and read the instructions, then climb down and use the switches to get some light. Go through exit 13A to reach the warehouse.

Go further into the warehouse, then up to NoName's office. Look at his locker and use the crowbar to break the lock, then take the documents and TVD disc from the top shelf. Leave the warehouse.

Squat Area

Visit Andrea, who tells you to get some sleep.

Richard's First Dream

Try talking to Peter, but you need to calm him down first. Grab the teddy bear from the bed and give it to him. Now find one sock on the cupboard near the far wall. Look under the bed to see the other one, but you can't reach it. Look at the desk and take the ruler, then use this to get the other sock. Give the pair of socks to Peter. After your mum comes in and takes Peter away, look at the balcony door - it is missing a handle. Grab the handle from the other door and use it on the balcony door to escape.

Day 3: Richard

Squat Area

Andrea will wake you up and tell you her findings.

Airport

Go and look at the left cleaning robot. To unlock it press 2, 23 and 13. Take the TVD disc, then in your inventory, use this disc with your PDA. Run the program and change the setting to "Automatic Detection". Put the disc back in the robot and back away. Now pick up some grass from the base of the tree and put it on the zebra crossing. When the android moves over to see what the cleaning robot is doing, you will automatically head inside.

Walk forward and pick up a pipe from the floor near the plane statue. Next head right and into the offices, then look at the right workstation. Look at the monitor to see you need a username and password, then look at the lunchbox on the desk to see the name "Martin". Take the box of pills from on the keyboard, then leave the offices. Enter the men's toilet and talk to the man in the closed stall. Give him his pills, then hide behind the stall. When Martin is getting water from the basin, hit him with the pipe. Search him to get his keys and flight pass.

Leave the bathroom and cross to the left side of the hall. Enter the changing room and look at the lockers. Use your key on Kuruc's locker and you will see his password etched into the back of the door (this changes for each game, so write it down). Leave and return to the office. Log in to the computer with "kuruc" and the password from the locker.

Squat Area

Andrea isn't happy with what you have arranged, so it's back to the airport.

Airport

Go to the right of the hall to find Prague Airport. Take the wanted poster from the wall on the left, and you will end up with a pin. Go inside and head through door 03A, which is unlocked. Try the light switch, but it doesn't do anything. Try screwing in the light bulb above the switch, but it only works temporarily. Look at the box on the table here and tear off a piece of cardboard, then use this on the light bulb to hold it in place.

Now look at the door on the left. Look at the padlock and move it twice to notice a code scratched into the bottom. Enter this code to open the padlock - if it gets stuck while turning, use your pin to clean the affected digit. Go through the door to find a basement.

Turn on the light switch here, then plug in the cord on the floor right next to you. Go and look at the printer - the display says "No paper". Go and look at the broken printer on the floor and take its paper. Put this in the working printer, then it will say "No data source". Go back to the front of the airport hall and look at the left cleaning robot again. Take its TVD disc and return to the basement. Put the disc in your PDA. Format it and then copy files to the disc. Put the disc in the printer and press the Print button - you will take the cards. Also grab the disc, then leave.

Day 4: Richard

Squat Area

After waking up, you will receive a message from Andrea.

Airport

Go right to the airport and head inside. Use your airport pass to enter door 420. Take an envelope from the small shelf on the desk. Try using the telephone, but you have nobody to call. Go back down to the basement and use the disc in the printer, then print another airport pass (and take the disc again). Put the duplicate pass inside your envelope. Go back to the telephone and save your game, as an important decision is coming up.

Call the delivery service, and you will board the plane. Once in Brazil, you can choose to believe Andy (and play as Andy) or not (and play as Andrea). The overall outcome is the same.

Day 5: Andy

Airport

Talk to the taxi driver, who tells you where to find the Hotel Sunset. Walk to the police station and head inside to see Richard, but you can't talk to him. Talk to the police officer, then use the terminal to send an email to the chief. Wait and you will be given an electronic form on a disc. Put this into the terminal, but you don't have an appropriate ID number to enter into the form. Note down the phone number (1153-8B64), then take the disc and head outside. Look at the phone next to the taxi stand, and click on the card box and the coin slot. Talk to the taxi driver, who will give you coins in exchange for something "fun".

Hotel Sunset

Head inside and talk to Andrea, who will give you a box of cigars.

Airport

Give the cigars to the taxi driver in exchange for some coins. Now look at the phone again. Put a coin in the coin slot and dial the number from the terminal - now you know the clearance number is 1004. Return to the police station, use the terminal and insert the disc. Click on the empty slot to enter the number, and Richard will be free.

Day 5: Andrea

Airport

Grab the cloth from the base of the tree. Talk to the taxi driver, who tells you where to find the Hotel Sunset, but doesn't want to talk much about the resistance. Walk to the police station and head inside to see Richard, but you can't talk to him. You can look at the terminal here, but you can't do anything useful yet. Come back to the taxi driver and show him the cigars - he will tell you about a cigar factory.

Cigar Factory

Walk down to meet the commander - he will give you a TVD disc. Leave here.

Airport

Talk to the taxi driver to arrange a method of fast escape - he will let you borrow his car. Head to the police station and wait, but he doesn't come. Go back and talk to him again, but he won't let you borrow it after all.

Cigar Factory

Talk to the commander again and he tells you to get the license number of the taxi.

Airport

Look at the taxi's license plate - it is very dirty, so try to clean it with your cloth. Now you need water.

Hotel Sunset

Look at the waterworks on the right, then use the cloth on it to get some water.

Airport

Use your wet cloth to clean the license plate. Look at the plate to get the number.

Cigar Factory

Talk to the commander, who will deactivate the taxi.

Airport

Talk to the taxi driver, who will now agree to help you.

Cigar Factory

Talk to the commander, who will now reactivate the taxi.

Airport

Go to the police station and the driver will give you the keys and leave. Head inside and use the TVD disc in the terminal - Richard will be free.

Day 5: Richard

Cigar Factory

Talk to the commander about everything, then leave.

Pedro Perintez

Approach the house but Pedro will not talk to you. Look in the pot, then leave.

Hotel Sunset

Talk to Andy, and he will leave.

Cigar Factory

Talk to the commander again, and Andrea will send info to your PDA. Look at your PDA and read the article about Perintez.

Pedro Perintez

Talk to Pedro, who should now be outside.

Cigar Factory

Once again talk to the commander, this time asking about Pedro's brother. Look at your PDA for some more information. Talk to the commander again, then leave.

Pedro Perintez

Talk to Pedro and he will eventually escort you to Endora.

Gate

Look at the blocked entrance and try to move the debris yourself, then ask Pedro to help and you will get inside. Try using your EMP on the teleportation chamber, but the pulse is not strong enough.

Cigar Factory

Talk to the commander, and Andrea will improve your EMP gun so it delivers more energy in a single shot.

Gate

Return to the teleportation chamber and use your EMP gun to activate it.

Brazilian Endora

Look at the modern art and break a wire off. Take the paperweight from the table on the left. Head out through the open door and walk along the outside of the building. Look at the window leading to the hallway and try to open it, then try to use your wire to press the remote on the right. Bend the wire with your paperweight, then use it on the remote.

Once inside, look at the hologram on the left, and talk to it to find out about guards and access to the archives and warehouse. Use the stairs to get to the warehouse. Look at the equipment on the left and take a PFS, then return via the stairs. Now use the stairs to get to the archives - if you get a message about the guards being there, wait and try again. Look at the terminal on the wall. Enter the first 2 terms automatically, then enter "PETRENKO" as the final word. Press the Demand button, then take the TVD disc. Look at the window, then look at one of its corners. Next pick up a tool from the floor - you will get a welder. Use this on all 4 corners of the window, then pick up the chair.
